Things you forgot.....
« on: June 22, 2009, 05:37:57 PM »
So I got a new trailcam the other day and thought today would be a good day to set it up in a spot that i have been scouting for a while now. So as i was walking into the woods it dawned on me that i forgot to bring a scredriver to mount the cam onto a tree. I figured no big deal im sure i can jerryrig something to make it work, which i did. So after i jerryrigged the camera with some rope i made (compliments of Man Vs Wild) i realized that i had forgot the SD card sitting at home so i couldent use the camera >:( ...oops. Not really a deer story since this is the Deer form, but i was intrested in hearing other important things you guys/gals have forgot at home and realized it in the woods. Iv heard stories of people leaving their gun at home so i dont feel all that bad.

i accidentally grabbed my wife's keys one time, she has a key to my truck so i didnt realize it until i was in the woods. the problem was that where i go i have a access key to a gate, well the gate was open and i didnt realize i had the wrong keys until i went to leave the woods and the gate was closed and locked  :bash: so i forgot to check my keys before going to the woods, never again

I have left my knife at home before.  I've actually done it a few times.  Once I ended up gutting my buck with a 2 inch pocket knife, which actually worked just fine.  It was a little dull by the end though.

Went elk hunting last season and forgot to bring the meat packs. Of course we got an animal. Luckily some super cool neighbors from spokane let us use theirs. Thank God for good people.

i went to e-wa to go coyote hunting one time and forgot my rifle at home on the west side. luckily my buddy had an extra.

i forgot my bino's at the truck one day...

forgot my knife one day...

i always seem to forget something, it's usually something minor, except the rifle. that was just plain dumb...can't fix dumb i guess.

There are two things I forget the most and I check and double check each time before I go out. Then for some reason I left them by the door or in the garage or sometimes in the truck. Water and TP :bash:

When I was about 19 my dad got me a pair of 10x50 zeiss binos. I left them on top of the truck when a buddy and I were out scouting, and drove away. Never say them again. I had to tell my dad when hunting season came and I didn't have them. Needless to say who bought the next set.
I hope when I die my wife doesn't sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them.

Last year opening day of bow season I forgot my key to unlock my cable that keeps my climbing tree stand from getting stolen. Was half way there up steep ridge trail & remembered, wasted an hour round trip.  :bash:  Won't happen again. Mike

I took hunter safety when I was in 6th grade that fall hunting season came around and we were on our way to Winthrop on Friday night when we got there I realized I left my hunting license at home. The next morning i got to watch my dad shoot a nice little 3 point that was a tough leason for a 12 y/o.

Last elk season I drove over to Wenas from Stanwood and 5 minutes before I got to camp I realized I forgot my Hunting license at home.  So I drove up and down the roads trying to get phone service to call home cause the service sucks out there to.  I finally got a hold of my father in law and brought it to me.  I guess that was a good way to get him out hunting.  I guess I could have gone to walmart too or  something, but I've never had to get a duplicate so not sure how that works.

Left my keys in a spike camp after bringing a deer out 7 hours deep in the woods it was about 11pm when we realized what I did, no fun at all.

Forgot matches once when my wife and I went camping when we first got married.

Forgot to find out if my spare tire would let down after I bought a brand new pickup.  Had to wait about 8 hours for Lester Schwab to get there, no cell service.  That won't happen again.

Forgot my binoculars after gutting out my first deer when I was a little guy.  Found them that spring when dad and I went back to the spot hanging on the limb.

Forgot to take my gun off safety one time.

Forgot to make sure I had plenty of clearance when wearing my waders one time, had to cut them off!
