Muckleshoot/white river forest hunting permits
« on: January 10, 2025, 04:28:48 PM »
Has anyone had any leads with the muckleshoot tribe issuing hunting permits for the white river area near enumclaw? Hancock previously managed permits for that area.

I have had one email from melissa calvert about one year ago. (the lady managing the hunting permits for the white river area) And have heard nothing since.

Supposedly they were working on their rec program last year and planned on selling permits but then they went radio silence on us so who knows.

It's a total joke. When they bought the land pretty sure they were telling everyone they were going to always sell rec permits. Hopefully they can figure things out and throw Louie off the board.

Based on the amount of ugly no trespassing signs they have nailed to every other tree on the highway.  I really doubt that’s gonna happen.

What are all their armed security guards for if they’re not gonna sell passes? They need all them guards decked out in tactical gear just to deal with the Indians?

They have been trying to get away from Hancock for some years now. Yes they have about 7 patrolmen that carry. I was told years ago from Dave the head security guy who is a retired cop from Auburn when they get everything in place they will lock everything up and not be selling any recreation passes. They mostly patrol to keep other tribes off of their land. They own a ton of land and the land they own behind the Buckley gate is like their own little private area because when Hancock closes in the summer and early fall they are in their killing elk all over the place. I have seen them haul out some dandy’s and of course it’s not only on their land. I’ve also found many dead bulls that run to far off the road and they can’t get them back to the road while so they leave them.

This is so frustrating. I have been hunting that ground since before it was pay to play. I have emailed Melissa Calvert (who the original email told us to contact) a few times. She was responsive at first, then went silent and won’t answer phone or emails. I have hunted in there with my family in there for years as it was a great place to go for evening hunts after work. I really wish they would at least communicate their intentions instead of just being silent. Seems like a cowards way to do things.

Sounds like it’s over for non mucks. Gunna miss it, pretty much grew up in that area. Not to many places I haven’t put boots on in there. Makes me wonder if the wr special elk hunt numbers will change some in the near future.

It certainly takes a lot of ground out of that hunt, some dang good bulls will be out of reach now.
