Sounds like it’s over for non mucks. Gunna miss it, pretty much grew up in that area. Not to many places I haven’t put boots on in there. Makes me wonder if the wr special elk hunt numbers will change some in the near future.
It certainly takes a lot of ground out of that hunt, some dang good bulls will be out of reach now.

Dang.  I was counting on my key if I drew the white river bull tag.    If I do draw, that means I’ll actually have to get out of my pickup  :chuckle:

I wouldn’t be surprised if wdfw just opens the unit up to otc elk hunts now that so little land is actually being regulated by the state.

Agree, I wonder what the special draws will look like now. Half the unit will be closed now, and I’m sure a majority of the people who draw, hunt the white river (muckleshoot) property.

Probably why it’s moving g to bull category if I read correctly.

Mellissa Calvert is one of the worst people I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with.  She doesn't care and... it shows.

For what it's worth... the watchmen I have talked to think there WILL be a permit in 2025  :dunno:

Well at this point with their lack of communication it’s all hearsay but I’m hearing the opposite

Dictionary definition of "hearsay" at this point... While getting a haircut I ran into the old fella watchman who runs around up there and asked him point blank if there would be a rec permit this year and he said:

"That's the expectation but we thought that last March too."    :dunno:

Two years ago, I talked with a well educated muck guard, nice guy. We talked about this issue, I even said, I wouldn’t be surprised if you guys closed it down and made it a trophy elk hunting area.  He was adamant that, that wouldn’t happen and they were more concerned about numbers than quality. He said they would offer a pass and things wouldn’t change.  I guess he wasn’t in the know

I’m shocked that Paul Blart didn’t have accurate information that was being spread on the dirt roads in the woods.
