Is it worth it to use scent lures on the westside with as much rain as we get?

Yes it is
Beaver castor lure is a good one.
If you make your own mix vaseline in with the Castor.

Have to admit I have never been sold on them. I have caught cats on lure only when using footholds back in the day but with cage traps about all I ever use besides a nice piece of beaver meat is a little long distance call. I make my own, skunk essence, castor and Vaseline. Does it work? Can't say for sure but it doesn't hurt.

As Hump said, they worked great when I trapped in 70's - 2000. I also made my own using a lot different variations of lures. The most productive were beaver castor mixed with deer meat and vasoline, and bobcat urine/gland mixed with vasoline. I caught a lot of cats and coyotes using it. Of course I did run a lot of traps.

Make your own, it's easy and it lasts a long time. Don't forget to use a visual attracter. It will absolutely bring it more cats when the wind may be blowing a different direction than your cat is cruising.

Not to derail the OP's thread to far, but what would the more experienced trappers suggest for visual attractions?

Back on topic, I've used bobcat gland lure, and beaver castor along with beaver meat. I suspect the beaver meat is what brought them into the trap.
