Wow. River full of wall hangers.

To each his own Tomy. Not your cup of tee?, fine stay home, but some people go out to catch fish to have fun and there is no reason for you to rain on their parade.

Nice pic Bone, looks like a blast.

Chum are great for beginers. The pic I posted was my buddys sister with her socond salmon. She out fished the guys that day and the day she caught her first.

Fishing is fishing. Weather yer catching carp or spring chinook. It's better than sitting on the couch and reading about it on the WWW.

the nisqually used to be fun when you'd never see more than a handful of guys fishing it.  too bad the riffraff snagger crowd started to show up and a certain fishing site now loves to hype it up.

then again,  you could say that's happened to all the rivers i used to fish a lot, makes me kind of glad i live out on the coast now.
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

My Dad has been catching a bunch of them off of his bulkhead in Totten with a bobber and anchovie rig.  He catches them and tosses them back.

I don't think there is a better C&R salmon.  Edible maybe not but fun to catch you bet.

Absolutely they are my favorite fish to catch. No fish fights harder pound for pound than a chum.

That run in the Nisqually is the nicest run of chum you will find. Many of the fish of that run look like steelhead they are so bright. I wish the rest of the chum runs in the state had their genetics

Heck yea, we used to ATV into the Manauska Valley right outside Palmer and hit the feeder streams for Chums, they'd attack everything throw at them, my kids and I absolutey loved catching them, especially on a fly rod or light gear..... Almost a fish a cast, try that with too many other fish..... and when the teeth come full tilt, yee-haw, even better...

have you ever wondered why the native runs of fish such as chum and pink do so much better than the kings and silvers?

well i made my first trip up to hoodsport this morning to try and catch a couple chums... I sure wish i wouldve thought to look at the netting schedule  :bash: Ive never fished there before but did a little research so i had a baseline of how to start out but it didnt work out... there were so many net boats and nets out that you couldnt fish anywhere near hoodsport and the hatchery itself so i headed north a ways figuring that would be better to maybe get into them before they get down there but i only saw like one group of them roll and like 1 jump. Tried casting everything at them and trolling different rigs too but i guess i still have a lot to learn as all i got was soaked. Tips????
