I contacted the Quinault Rez about taking some of my money for a guided hunt. My question is. Is there anyone on the board that does guide service for Black Bear?

i don't think there are any big game guides on the board at all. where do you want to hunt? was the rez a little too pricey for you?

Do not think it will be. Waiting on a price form them for tag and guide. Tag is only $250.00

The guides are pricey for the rez. You will want to get a list of guides and call more then a couple. The cheapest I remember was $1,200, not including tag.

Here is some pricing info I got 2-2-06 so it is a bit dated, but it is from the one you emailed.
So you can probably expect to pay a few hundred more for 2008.

"Pricing for the Spring of 2006 and Fall of 2006. 2250.00 (includes tag)
Second bear is 650.00 (includes tag)
We book for four day hunts and if we have the space available you can add extra days for a fee of 500.00 per extra day."

It seems like a lot of money but there's something to be said for being within a half day's drive from home. Time is worth a lot, not to mention the cost of gas if you were to drive to another state. That said, you might want to check into guided hunts anywhere in the northern half of Idaho. There are some pretty good opportunities, and some units you can kill two bears. They have some units where non-residents can buy "reduced bear tags" for only $31.75. Otherwise I think a bear tag is around $150. Just something to consider.

Can be, and you won't be paying money to a federally subsidized soveriegn nation either.

Go to BC, Alasksa, Idaho. Most cases you can kill 2 bear for that price, and you'll have a guide that will work for ya. A buddy went up to the Quinault a couple years ago with one of the better guides up there. Anyways, put in a little time around here, you'll kill one. Contact bearmanric, he'll hook you up.

I hunted Bear in BC for $2500 plus about $500 for tags. Had a great time. It was spot and stock.

NE oregon has some good spring bear hunts.  Have to put in by feb 10.  Hunted with outback outfitters.  Good guied and nice guy too.  Better be in shape.

i would go to alaska, then you can shoot a huge black bear and then some more things in the mornin. while catchin fish in the afternoon its the way to go, espeically for how much you'd be payin here
