West Side Late Buck
« on: November 19, 2009, 03:07:36 AM »
For those of us who are who love the late buck hunt.... Good luck this morning and for the season.  I don't know about everyone else but I have been laying in bed since 11:30 and I slept maybe a half an hour.  I swear every year at this time I am 7 and it's Christmas morning.  With the lack of sleep my face may look like this  :yike: at daylight.  Good luck all and be safe.

No, dont wait till saturday, this is great weather, the deer are going to be laying down till you get a break in the weather , then its movement time.
Get back out here, wait out the weather, look for them getting up and shaking off or moving from 1 small timber patch to another.
Every blacktail i have taken in weather like this was in midday, either after the weather lets up or breaks or the deer just cant stay bedded any longer..
Years ago when i hunted modern for blacktails this is the weather i hoped for.

If you can read this, you should log off and get back out there!

Still-hunt the heavy bedding cover.  In this weather they will hold tight and likely not run too far if bumped.

If you can read this, then you may have already got your deer this morning :IBCOOL:
I left the truck with my cousin who is my hunting partner at about 7am.  at 8:15 I was gutting him out.  I woas out on whidbey so horns didn't matter. I saw a deer and it went down.  The horns were a bonus :)

Get out there.  The bucks are moving and are still rutty.  Use a grunt tube and rattle some horns.  They will still come a runnin.
Have fun and stay safe.
I hunt therefore I am.

Well...we went out and I must same we were lame road hunters this AM. But, we had a late start. We were up in about 3" of snow and saw NO tracks. It seems like they are pretty low here, anyways. Headed home to put up the rifle and grab the shot gun. We of course saw a NICE 3x3 with eye guards on our way home but, crossed from the woods into someones back yard. !! Headed back out after we choke down some lunch.
Good luck to everyone else:) :) And myself..lol
