the 2 cheapest things are probably 2 stroke oil and Biodiesel. It don't take much either. 2% bio is not enough to cause any problems in any year of truck and 2 stroke oil can be purchased really cheap about anyplace. Be sure the 2-stroke oil is ashless.

I have run 2-stroke oil and noticed I differnece in engine noice. It really gets quiet when I dump some in. Makes a littel more smoke but who cares. It can smoke out a rice burner really well when I have a hot tune loaded up and oil in the fuel tank.

Yes walmart has very cheap TC-W3 ashless 2-stroke oil in gallon jugs.  That is where i get mine.  Nothing wrong with a little smoke

i used to dump a quart of ATF in my 7.3 every now and then. the detergents in it will clean out the fuel system. but i read that you dont want to do it in the 6.0l because of the higher compression

Do not do that in any modern diesel engine. It was ok in the older stuff. Don't know If I would add it in a 7.3 to be honest. I think it has more to do with components before it ever gets into the cylinder than the compression being more. Diesel engines are cool in they will digest about anything you can get in them includeing water.

How is illegal to run waste vegie oil as a fuel additive? I'm not buying that. I know yer sapose to pay hwy tax if you run it as a primary fuel and guys are finally getting busted for it.

I thought in this state they have 5-10% bio diesel mixed in? So would you need the additives in this state?

I'm unsure of data but Cummins allows for up to 5% waste oil to be ran factory spec'd and many guys run more.  My buddy runs 80% oil, 20% diesel in his 7.3l powerstroke.  I'm running about 20% waste oil right now in my Cummins.

How is it illegal?

I would love to see what one of them engines would do if it got a gulp of good synthetic oil. LOL I don't think the new generation diesels would like the old motor oil. With exhaust filters and emitions crap it would probably screw them all up. With the Duramax a guy can use EFI Live to get rid of all that stuff. Not that it would be legal for street use if you got caught.

I would be more intrested in running CNG. A guy on thedieselplace.com has been developing and selling a system that has been getting some crazy mpg on #2


I don't think WA has bio mixed in their #2 yet. OR might. If you can get a mix of 2% or more it will do more for you than any additive can. Even better than the old diesel before they started pulling the sulfur out. You can buy nearly pure Bio and dump about 2 quarts into yer tank and get enough to make it 2%. Depending on tank size.

Synthetic has been tried, with not so good results hahaha.  Plumes of white smoke and extra bad mpg. 

Running WMO on newer diesels is a bad idea as you stated.  All the emissions crap really doesn't like the motor oil.  Pretty much 03 and up cummins are a no-no and 98.5-03 are considered safe.  Before 98.5 it seems to be 100% usable.  Some guys are running it 100% no diesel added in their 12v engines.
