who uses #11 percussion cap?

I use Triple Seven for my rifles, under mostly hand cast bullets or No excuse 495-510gr for the fifties and RWS 1075+ caps on all my Muzzle loaders. The RWS caps are German made and are #11 caps. I have found them to be the hottest #11 available.

I shoot a Traditions evolution, and use percussion caps.  With my gun I have found that 100 grains of pyrodex is just about right.  I can push it to 110, without losing much accuracy.  I've shot loads up to 150 grains, but the pattern spreads out a lot in my gun.  I use .50 cal mmp sabots that I got at cabelas.  Then I bought a bunch of .451 wadcutters for target shooting.  During hunting season, I switch to Power Belt bullets and two Pyrodex pellets, for convenience.  I lube the sabots with Bore Butter and they go in easier.  Now that they changed the reg's, I'm switching to Hornady xtp 300 grain hollowpoints.  They are a serious show stopper, in my opinion.

I don't take any long pokes with my gun.  I can hit a wash tub at 200 yards with fiber optic sights.  I won't take a shot at an animal past 100, though.  I did some shooting with Deerslayer, and he was dropping some balls in pretty consistently at 200.  But he's a young hotshot.

The answer to your questions depend on, caliber, and  barrel twist.

I use only black powder. I use fff in 50 caliber and smaller, otherwise ff.  The twist dictates what type of projectile. A slow, deep, twist means patched round ball. Faster twist and a Little shallower ie- 1-48 in a compromise as used in some Thomason center  barrels. This will shoot patched round ball and lead slugs.  Faster twist normally mean lead bullets.

The magnum #11 seem to work well.

What gun are you shooting this combo with? Also how well does it work for you?  I absolutely love the accuracy I've gotten out of the sst's in my Black diamond and big horn. The 777 pellet's however. Using the German musket caps I couldn't get any consistency. Every time I went out I would get groups all over the place. Finally figured it out when I went out with a buddy and he was shooting the 777 loose. We where both shooting the same gun, same bullet and the same caps. Except my bullet's would key hole at 100 yards. Switched over to loose and never had another problem. Come to find out the 777 pellets are designed to be used with the 209 ignition. With the musket caps it wasn't igniting all the powder.

I have a Thompson Center .50 Cal. Seems like it uses 11's. Been a while since I shot it.

Seems like I was getting about 1800 fps +or- with FF on my chrony, a friend suggested I try FFF and my speed jumped a littleover 100 fps. I noticed some of you guys use FFF too. 

When I tried pellets my speed was slower....

Your velocity will drop with pellets as they burn slower and colder than loose due to the "glue" to hold the powder together. You will also need hotter caps to ignite the pellet one of the reasons 209's came about.

Thanks guy's those sound like some good loads I'll have to try out. I'm starting with the RWS caps , pb444grn. lead flat nose and 90grn. of Jim Shockey's Gold .it's nice that the RWS caps are actually cheaper than the CCI.
