« on: May 16, 2010, 11:02:34 PM »
ok, on page 79 of the regs, it says mule deer sept. 1st to dec. 31st. gmu's open to mule deer hunting. does that mean that you can only hunt it while it is normaly open or can you hunt it all four months with any weapon.  for example, if drawn, can i hunt unit 204 with a gun at the end of november.  thanks  :dunno:
hunt for the the challange of the hunt and the meat,  and it's always a trophey....poachers suck.

You can hunt any time in those four months, with any weapon you choose.  The GMU just has to have some sort of mule deer hunt during the year.  At least that is my understanding.

Know that most of the raffle tag holders wait until mid November to pursue the bucks but has anyone heard of any raffle tag holders getting a trophy buck in the velvet?

You can hunt with any weapon during the time frame unless there is an open season in the unit you are hunting, and then you have to use the weapon type that is in that particular season.

Everybody's got it correct.

I don't think thats accurate.
You can definitely use a rifle during archery seasons with a raffle tag if you want to.

But jackelope, you already said everybody had it correct.   :)

I was wondering about that part too. It doesn't say that in the regulation pamphlet.

I really don't know the rules for the raffle hunts, as I've never had one. But I would assume if you are drawn for it, they will send you more detailed rules than what they have in the pamphlet.

The winner of the deer and elk
raffles may purchase an additional deer or elk
license/tag for the general hunting season if they
choose. If selected, any legal weapon may be used
during the hunt.

I thought that it was any legal weapon during that weapons particular time frame.. meaning you could go during archery with a bow, then again during rifle with rifle, etc. Sounds though like you could have bow, rifle, and muzzleloaders all in the GMU at the same time. how many tags are given out for that GMU?
