The bull that 400out is talking about(I assume) was killed in the 178 Peola unit up off of the Peola road. I was up there Saturday night and talked to one of the landowners who was out running around looking for bad guys. We were stopped glassing a group of elk and he came up behind us with the headlights out thinking/hoping we were the poachers. Someone was right down below his house calling elk and he thought it was us.He told me a 350 bull and no meat/horns were taken.
For the record...I understand they don't think this was native americans that killed this bull and there was no meat or horns taken at all. This I heard from the landowner guy I talked to. I know some guys got busted a few years back for killing elk up there and taking the backstraps and leaving the rest to rot. they were not native americans either....that said, there is a ton of native american hunting that goes on up in the Lick Creek unit and they all come from Idaho.
