bowhunting and a .22 rifle?

While bowhunting for elk, am I legally able to carry a .22 rifle strapped to my pack for shooting grouse?

I'm worried about the arrow shaft.  Bow is set at 70lbs.  If I miss a grouse and hit a rock, the shaft is gonna shatter

don't miss   or use a flue flue... A feathe duster looking arrow that only flies like 20-30yrds then falls to the ground harmlessly

Blunts sure do waste a lot of meat though. thye blow right through grouse taking every feather and peice of meat with them.

I did read the regs but in another thread, someone mentioned this was legal.  I was looking for some clarification

That's a good idea.  Is a pellet gun considered a "Firearm" for the sake of this discussion?

A guy I work with rigged a sling shot to shoot arrows. He zip tied a whisper biscuit to it and replaced the nock with a golf ball tee. He cut the whisper biscuit just big enough to insert the shaft through. He claims that it is accurate. I believe he had to shorten some cheap arrow shafts. He showed it to some of us at work last week, I gotta admit it does look pretty cool.

Actually it's illegal to kill a grouse with a slingshot. Stupid I know, but it is.

Also illegal to shoot them with a pellet gun........
