As long as the $$ is going where its supposed to be, its a good program. As for Dans hunting "prowess" I think about anybody could drop the hammer and kill one of these big bulls with the help he's getting. This is a great example of proper wildlife management at its finest in my opinion, kudo's to WDFW. Also, as said in one of my prior posts, the real credit goes to the guides. I left one of ems house monday morning about 10:30, 6 hours before this bull was killed. They looked like a couple starved out dogs, sick and run ragged from endless hours behind the wheel, glass, worn out boots, etc. The funny thing is, neither want their names mentioned, or picks posted. Thats true passion!! Great work guys.

I initially thought it was a different Dan Agnew.  I saw that link as well.  The Dan Agnew I was thinking of is president of The Agnew Company, which is primarily a timberland ownership Company and owned much of the land around the Centralia Steam Plant / Coal Mine operated by TransAlta.  I think much of his money was made by timber dollars and mine / mineral leases, etc.

So upon further research it appears to be the same Dan J Agnew that is involved in both the beverage distributor as well as the Timber company.

Yeah you are correct, he made alot of money off of coal royalties, although they no longer mine in centralia.

He was born into money, goes a few generations back. His forester told me once, Dan makes more money off the mineral rights from the mine, than if he logged the whole tree farm, in old growth timber!!! And its a good sized chunck of land....

So call it coincidence or what but was watching my Dvr hunting shows when on Boone and Crockett country they are talking about their banquet they had this year. And wouldn't you know it they interview Dan Agnew. Seemed liked a nice guy. Really pointed out that He does this for the money to go back into mangement. I like him better already. Maybe I can convince him since he has so much money to buy me the tag next year :chuckle:

That is a great elk! Thank you Mr Agnew for spending the $ to get this tag and helping our wildlife! Now that being said as far as the hunt goes there is hunting and there is killing! My boys and I hunt in washington when we go to Wyoming next week we will be killing. This bull may have been on public land for all to take but I have a feeling at day break of that "hunt" they did not "hunt" this animal it was just killed. Anyone can be a great "killer" for the right amount of $ But you have to work hard be a great hunter. :twocents:

im gonna say congrats to Mr. Agnew and im also gonna say i believe he is a hunter just like the rest of us and he proves that he can get it done also. you have to be able to make the shot at the end of the day and thats what he did. if i had the money i'd do exactly what he did to be able to take an animal like that.

Does anyone know if the auction tags are tax deductible like a donation?
