LOL Jamie! Your friend looks like he is getting ready to pee on your rifle!
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

None in 06 but I own one tikka and a few 700's. For most hunters the tikka is a better deal, great out of the box shooter that wont need anything done to it. I prefer Remington 700's, with a little tweaking, trigger job and bedding you end up with a heck of a rifle.
Theres way more aftermarket parts for the Remington and ever gunsmith in the country will work on a Remington.
I don't really dislike the tikka but mine just fells like a cold piece of steel/plastic, no character.

I agree completely.  And if you reload, there is a .6" jump to the lands for a standard lenght cartridge on the Tikka.  That is way to much of a jump in my opinion.

you mean .06 right?

Tikka group at 200 yards on the white paper and 300 yards on the cardboard.  300 win mag with a lightened trigger and a muzzle brake.  Custom handloads precisely loaded.  I had to buy a new plastic clip because my brother lost it.  Small price to pay for accuracy.  I love my tikka.

I really don't care how much my bullet jumps.  I only care where it hits.  With my Tikka T3, it groups right around 1" or better.  You can't go wrong.

after my expierience with the tikka/sako/beretta customer service, I think you would have to be nuts to buy any of their stuff. I still feel like I was raped.

owned many of both, do not own a Rem rifle now. I'd take the Tikka, I have never paid over 50.00 for a magazine. I have several.

I own the Tikka in .300WSM and like it a lot.  I did put a muzzle brake on it to keep it from jumping so much (it doesn't kick that hard but the barrel does jump) but it's a great shooter.  I do agree that the plastic stock on the Tikka isn't great.  I did spend the money to have an extra clip, too.

Jeez Haugenna, learn to shoot.  (Obviously kidding - great shooting.)

I love my Tikka T3 300WSM. It is like packing around a toy.  Great if you do a lot of packing or rida a mountain bike.  The stainless version is great for the wet westside.  One downside is that I got ahold of some ammunition one year that does not work at all with the Tikka.  I can't remember which it was, but it was so bad that at 100 yards you would hit all over a target, if you even hit the target.  I looked on the Cabela's website and there was a long list of people complaining about the ammunition with their Tikka's.  As long as I reload or avoid that ammunition then it shoots great.

Tikka all the way.
Lighter (for hunting, you carry A LOT and shoot very little), much better trigger, likely to be more accurate.
700's usually need some tweaking (or a lot of tweaking)
If it was a range gun and you like to tinker...maybe the 700.
Remingtons also have some spotty QC out of the factory and the risk is too great for me.

I had no luck with the Winchester ammo.  I don't know about all over the paper but it did open up a bit with it.  Mine seems to like Federal ok.

Well if it were me I would go with the Tikka. I don't have enough time to say all the good things about it. If you haven't ever handled one get a hold of me and we will go out shooting so you can see first hand how nice and accurate it shoots. For all of you out there here is how mine is set up. Its chambered in .308, Scoped with 3x9x40 Burris Fullfield II, and a Limbsaver recoil pad. Oh yeah and the trigger is pull is set to my liking.
