From his user name, "yakimaarcher," I'll take a stab at it and guess Yakima.   :dunno:

I know it"s a little late on asking for this info but I couldn't"t get away being my father was so sick and just passed away. I have the firetrail map and others I have been going over. I'll be going over this Friday morning to set up a camp (I was thinking around Lost Lake) and then scout Friday afternoon Saturday and Sunday. I was just asking for some general places to look over before Monday. Any help would be appreciated and a Beer or Drink will be waiting for you at my camp !!

Lots of roads and roadhunters. Find some sign and get off the road and you'll do fine. Seen a handful during the muzzle permit season. Seen em in several different locations. Lost lake isn't too far from a few bulls I know are still alive and kicking:)

Thanks Kris,

Gonna be 58 next month but i still dog the woods. Never was a road hunter ! I've packed many a quarters on my back out of deep canyons !! My son's last 2 spikes at Little Natches were 7 hours and 7 1/2 hours. I told him no more for a spike ! My back ain't what it used to be. Now with this any bull tag it will be worth it ! I will be bring the Ben Gay and some pain medicine just in case I get lucky though ! I got a buddy coming with me but lucky me he has bad knees :-(

Rimrock and bad knees don't really go together.

HaHa - Yeah that's why I'll be doing the packing - He also has a Any bull tag too . My boy is going to Washington State and he said for me to give him a call if I need help - Don't think i won't hold him to it !
I think my plan is for my buddy to drop me off in the high places and to meet me on the lower roads somewhere..

I suggest you visit the website www.digital-topo-maps.com.  It allows you to see roadmaps, topo maps and google earth on the same site.  The site allows you to get there knowing what the terrain is like and the ability to see what that vegetation is like.  Knowing in advance about hidden clear cuts or meadows is a tremendous help.

Welcome to the site. Rimrock area is my play yard. I too just lost my (other) father, I missed early archery season for that reason. So I know how hard hunting and focusing on hunting is and can be. I had 2 bulls on my game cams before I pulled them at the end of august. Lost lake is a good area to start, if you follow the rd. to the end there is an old rd. that is pretty easy walking, it has a couple of steep spots, when you come to a chioce to make to go left or right, the left will take you around to Long lake and back to the rd. if you go right it takes you back farther then up to Loie Way Gap, which is another unit. Let me know how you do, I am able to hunt late archery and looking for a spike/cow elk or nice 3pt. buck:) Good luck and I am sorry for your loss.
