WDFW December Proposals

I just got the following email from wdfw.  I don't have time right now to read the attachment.  Will read later this evening, but thought I'd post it here in case others wanted to read it.

Attached for your review and comment are amendments to the multiple season big game permits.  This proposal will be presented to the Fish and Wildlife Commission at their December 3-4, 2010 meeting in Olympia.  The Commission will consider adopting or amending this regulation at that time.

 

If you would like the Department and Commission to consider your written comments regarding these recommendations, please submit them by November 10, 2010.

Sounds good to me, brings in a few more $ when the dept really needs it and it is only for those who want to pay (not required such as a license fee increase). It has my approval

The proposals say that they will draw 4000 for deer and 850 for elk.  They probably anticipate not all teh people buying them so actual numbers will be considerably lower.  In the proposals it talks about what % of people purchased them this last year, basically they want to make sure they sell the amount they want.

Yeah that is about what I took out of it, I think people apply, get drawn them think how am I going to get out to take advantage of it! I can understand where most people cant run around every weekend from sept to the rut

Sounds great. I actually think I'm going to apply for the multi-season deer permit next year, so going from 2000 to 4000 permits should double my chance of drawing.

Good - I haven't drawn in a couple of years and I would DEFINITELY purchase if I drew.  Maybe it will give me a chance.

I borrowed (and shot a deer with) a muzzleloader the last time I drew, so if I actually have a chance I better just go buy my own.

was it a muzzle loader rut season  I think I would wait for the big mulies to start rutting and climb out into the open

I decided to buy my 12 yr old son the multi deer and he was drawn I bought it for him and he went and made a select travel soccer team so we have been able to spend a total of two days in the field.  I think this is a good idea let the people that would actually use the tag have a better opportunity to draw the tag!

I love how they plan these December meetings during existing Muzzleloader general late seasons and Archery General late seasons.  They did a meeting like that last year.    

On a positive note....
They upped the drawing in 2010 over 2009 and said it was first come first serve this year, and still didn't sell them out.  I think a lot of people apply for it not realizing that it is $180 if they get drawn.  I drew both deer and elk this year - both currently unfilled, but it is a great opportunity to spread your season out, expose yourself to new weapons, seasons, and times of the year that may require different hunting methods.  I drew the multi-season deer last year and shot my first buck with the muzzleloader during the late season.  I think this is great for the sport to expose hunters to different methods that they may not normally go out of their way for.  

I understand why they would actually want to sell out the allocated tags, and support any additional revenue they could raise by selling allocated tags.

Only 55% of those drawn this year for deer purchased?  Too bad they couldn't have done a redraw like they have in past years.  I would have bought one!  I drew on the 3rd go around last year.

So why don't they just make deer/elk tags multi season across the board? Multi sean holders don't seem to buck up until they figure out their schedule.  If drawn you don't have to buck up the $$ until you want to.

Then all the modern rifle crazies would get muzzle loaders and infiltrate my season.

Im one of the 45% that didnt buy my multi deer. the problem wasnt that they wanted the 180. it was that they wanted me to by my tag then return it to them. then buy another. so 225 for a deer tag is just a bit much to swallow. I dont like the idea of paying twice.If i could have just paid the 180 i would have it in my pocket.

I'm guessing its for more $$$ AND so you cannot tag more than one deer....
