mountianwalk... dumb queston but I gotta ask. If I didn't apply for the combo tag with my group :bash: can I just buy a general buck tag? I went back with my brother in law last year in oct. and was able to buy a wt doe surplus tag.

No, all NR buck tags must be applied for, at least for general......maybe even landowner tags, that one I'm not sure about.

Bone,
Well I would tell ya good luck but by looking at some of the pics you posted on another thread luck isn't what you need ...just the tag  :chuckle: I've been bow hunting on the eastside for about 6 yrs now with a little success (cows) I should get my any bull tag this year ( 4points now). And hopfully get into some of the backcountry and hear some bulls bugle

I'm going to hold off for at least a decent 4-pt.  I hunt way over in unit 7 where a 130 is a nice buck for us.  When I lived in the Midwest, it was an easy drive.  We have got access to some private land over the years.  Plus we also antelope hunt and it makes a good combo hunt.  My dad comes from WI so it's kinda half way between us.  Plus there's doe tags available.

Which begs the question, what regions do you all hunt and why?  My reasons are the above.  I may hold ontp my Deer A tag and hunt the west side of the state in mid-late November.

Mountain,

Is that an area that you have to apply for a special permit?  That's down south of Missoula if I recall.

We hunt unit 6 on private land. Plus going to try and get a goat tag this year and maybe grab a doe tag.

Are you kidding me? I hunt region 7 and wont even look at 170 class buck until the last day. Try the block management system, or talk to the biologists, the deer are there NRA, take a look at these, all from region 7. Maybe your talking whitetail?

I can't wait to get over there and shoot a 170 buck on the 1st day. That's a nice block you hunt.  ;)
