Hunting the YTC

Its been a couple years sense I have been over there to hunt. I heard they charge a fee now. Is this true?? and how much??
I tried digging around on there web site with no luck. Thanks guys   John

JBLM charges $10 processing fee.

Weather that is relavent or not, I don't know   but I heard YTC and JBLM work together in access. I even heard that you can register at JBLM to access YTC, but have not been able to conferm it.

I believe there are the people on JBLM you would want to talk to, they are the ones people go through to get permits to hunt on  post.

It's been a few years, but I think my information is still current.

You must enter and exit the center at the main Selah entrance.
You have to buy an access card.  I believe it's $25.  It is good for one year; the year ends on March 31.
You must watch an orientation video each year.  It lasts about 25 minutes.
You cannot enter the base prior to two hours before sunrise, and you must leave the base no later than two hours after sunset.
You must have proof of vehicle insurance.
All firearms must be registered at the base.
You must select a maximum of three training areas to visit (there are 16 in total).  You will be given a pass that allows you to visit those three areas.  If you wish to visit a different area, you must return to Range Control and get a different pass.
The training areas that are open and closed change on a daily basis.  You may find out what will be open the next day at 17:00 hours.

I work at YTC and YES, there is a $20 or $25 fee for the Rec card that is good for only one year. Any firearm you plan on bringing onto base has to registered with the DA Police and a Federal background check is done on you. After you get the ok from the background check you can then bring the firearms onto base. A Rec card can be gotten at anytime at the gym, just watch a short video and pay the fee.

When down range all firearms must be cased and un loaded. Oh, hunter orange is a must as well for all game hunting.

This is strait from the DA Police... Hunting of any kind without checking in at RC (must have a down range vehicle pass) is considered trespassing on a Federal Installation and there for is a felony. If any game is harvested then WDFW is called, vehicle and all fire arms will be confiscated for unlawful harvesting of a game animal, hunting in the wrong area (must designate up to 3 open training areas you will be hunting in). Things get worse if the fire arm is not registered. The list goes on you get the point so in other words follow the rules and don’t be stupid. It’s a Federal Installations they don’t do misdemeanors.
There is one exception for natives who hunt the base. YTC is ceded Wanapum land so they just need to call in and say what gate they are entering and where they plan to hunt. If they harvest an animal they’re supposed to call it in as well. Neither happens very often so we keep a look out when working down range. Yakima’s are supposed to physically check in at Range Control before hunting. This doesn’t always happen so we call the DA Police to chase them down.

All this except you can actually just call range control on a cell to switch areas.
