Mountain Rifle is done! :)
« on: February 04, 2011, 11:26:50 AM »
I decided to go with the 7RUM I had to sacrifice the action from a 7mm but it was well worth it! I was going to use a benchmark contour 5 but yesterday morning my smith found a Christensen Carbon barrel. It was cambered in a 7mm STW He called me to tell me about it and said he can turn it to a 7 RUM so after all said and done they went out and shot it last night to see how it shot and were flat Impressed. I cant wait to shoot it He said it shoots amazing! I am like a little kid trying to find excuses to go out to WY to get it even though I was there 4 days ago  :chuckle:

* Christensen 26" carbon Bull barrel
* Rem 700 (5 digit) action
* Greybull Precision Stock
* Jewell Trigger
* Huskemaw 5-20

**9.6 LBS** W/ bi pod and scope

Sweet! I am looking into the Christensen arms rifles for a build myself. I have shot 2 and both were nice, shot good with factory loads. Some handloads could really turn them into tack drivers :drool:

Sounds like a great rifle and I'd love to have one like it, but I wouldn't call it a 'mountain rifle.'  Not when it's 9 1/2 pounds.  And I actually do like heavy rifles but it just doesn't fit the definition of what is normally considered a mountain rifle.

Oh ok, well I guess it's only MY definition of mountain rifle that says it should be light.   :dunno:
