Got a lot of quail out n my buds place and want to bow hunt em. What are the rules/licenses for upland birds because i nvr hunted them before.

Well, the only license you would need is the small game license.  You may want to wait until October so the season is actually open.  Poaching is often frowned upon by most   As for the use of a bow   no idea, .410 would be more fun in my opinion.  Shooting a quail, though a small target, with a bow wouldn't be to tough.  Unless you plan on wingshooting with the bow, then go get 'em.

I saw a whole crap load of Quail on my neighbors front lawn a few days ago.  There isnt a wild population around here so Im betting  they escaped from someons farm. I hope they stick around till October

Used to hunt them a lot in AZ with the bow.  Easy to ground slam'em.  And if there are trees around they will be easy picking out of those.  Shooting them out of the air though takes some patience.  My buddy and I were about 1 for 50 shots until we figured out they will almost always turn straight away from you if you wait.  Then our success improved greatly!  We now get one for about every 45 shots! 

Get the points that look like blunts with piano wire loops.  Not sure if Susan has them on the NW Archery site, but they do still have them at Three Rivers.

hmmm....  well, pretty sure Washington state rules frown upon "Wounding Game" no matter what the quarry is.

So, I'm PRETTY positive only legal hunting methos for quail in washington are with a Shotgun or with Falconry.

Look it up though, I could be wrong, but I'm better than 90% sure on this rule.

Yep!  There has never been a wounded bird due to shooting it with a shotgun.  But an arrow with a point 50% the size of a quail?  That should leave wounded birds all over the place.  Wholly Crap!  It's 2011, time to loose the bias.

IT IS UNLAWFUL TO HUNT:
• Game birds with a shotgun capable of
holding more than three shells.
• Game birds or game animals in a manner
other than with a firearm, a bow and
arrow, or by falconry. Bullfrogs in a manner

gigging, or bow and arrow.
• Game birds or game animals with a
shotgun larger than 10 gauge.

right... above regs are just copied from the handout on the regs. It is not a full/comprehensive list of the rules.

I'm just saying....    Yes, Grouse and Turkeys, sure. Geese, I've seen it. But Quail...  I don't know. I've been told by Gamey's it's frowned upon and not "Exactly" legal.

I would clarify with the Olympia Office first. If I were you.
