Anywhere you can get access is going to have elk.  Pick up a weyerhauser map.  Not sure if the gates are open or not.

Shoot a yearling, so you dont kill a bred cow.

I got drawn for a cow tag in there about ten years ago, but I didn't get one. Saw the most sign/tracks in the NW corner of the unit. Roads are super rocky in there if the gates are open. Bring a spare tire. At the time I was there it was owned by Hampton Lumber Company and you where supposed to get a permit to be in there but I don,t remember any one checking it. Good luck!

There are quite a few elk in there but  most of the gates will be closed in Jan..  Most of them are closed now, will be opened generally in early october depending on when the fire danger is gone.  They generally remain open until the day late bow season closes in mid December assuming there is not dumping or vandalism.  So be prepared to walk in to most areas in January but that can be a good thing.  Good luck.

Had that one two years ago. All the gates are locked then. Plan on walking/packing meat. There are some less pressured areas between Clark Creek and Lexington, just be careful what property you are on.  ;) Good luck.
