There are moose in the ENTIRE unit.  EVERYWHERE.  You can kill one in the first 5 minutes of the hunt if you want.  Its a frickin turkey shoot.   I'm not sure if its even possible to NOT harvest one. :dunno:  Maybe if you choose to hunt with a slingshot and hunt for only one weekend.   Have you ever been to area?

All I can say is if your just looking for any moose then you should be able to find one in about the first hour of your hunt if you do your research.

Someday when I get this tag, I will hold out for the biggest one and I know I won't be asking for info on here cause I know where to go. ;)

Heres what I did. Wrote to every permit holder from the year before (everyone but 2 called) Went to DNR and Forest Service and got maps. Called the biologist. Scouted and learned the area before the season. Found 15 or so bulls. Got some great info from members here. Shot one opening day. Hope that helps.

How about being more specific about areas that hold big bulls....? :chuckle:

Here is the advice I have to offer. Drive up the road (any road that is open) and look out any window in your truck and you will see a moose. :chuckle: good luck, it should be a fun and easy hunt. (the pack out may not be so easy though)
WDWF needs to get a clue before it's to late!!!

This is a good way to prepare for a hunt in a unit you don't know anything about.

The entire unit

This would be a good place to start the quest.
Seriously.

If you were to hunt this way and shoot your moose from the road, the pack out shouldn't be THAT hard.

Especially if it's on the uphill side of the road.

Yep. Definitely don't want to shoot one downhill from the road. Good point!   :chuckle:
