Very cool project!! I really liked the one Gasman built.      What is the thickness of the plywood you are using for the bottom?

believe it or not...it's all 1/4" plywood...except for some 3/4" for the end and middle braces.

Looking good guys! I built an SN last year and really like it, although it doesn't track terribly well so I may get a 2hp or something.

Everyone shoots three times per bird, right?

Sweet work!

Is that front area going to be open like that (for a dog? decoys?) or are you going to but a hinged lid on it? I think it would be nice to build a little dry storage box with a hinged lid in one of these things.. Keeping them dry might be tough though  :dunno:

great idea...however that was a bowed spot when i went to glue it so i had to put that piece across to keep the sides pushed out.  got it all glued up, holes and gaps filled and sanded now, and outer seams taped and glassed.  gonna finish it up this weekend and paint (i hope).  like the idea of the rails on the back platform...

question though..how does yours track in the water when using oar?  we tried some 1"x2" seams down the bottom on gasman's boat...tracks better but still sways side to side pretty good. understand it's flatbottom...just wondering.

Tracking with kayak paddles is probably the thing I like the least about it, actually. If you kneel as far forward as you can and kind of dig the front end in a bit, it will track a little nicer with less side to side. Practice definitely helps too.

I've thought about putting runners on the bottom or even some sort of keel at the back end but I'm not sure how much time I want to put into it. I also like the fact that if you're fairly well centered in the boat you can be in a few inches of water and not drag.  :IBCOOL:

How many layers of glass are you doing on the seams? some of my lowers have around 6 on the outside (taped seams once, then glass overlapping the seams, then another layer of tape).. might be overkill, but so far so good.

i'm taping all the seams, then i'll put 2 more layers across the whole boat when i get that far.. :dunno:  maybe another tape job but i doubt it.

we thought about kayak paddles too.  would have to get the ones that break down so i can stow them on the sides when not being used.

loki...devlin boats has a few cool boats you could build too.  I was looking at those yesterday.  maybe i'll sell my jon boat and build another bigger boat..lol
