North Bend Youth Cow Permit
« on: October 01, 2011, 08:20:09 PM »
A friend of mines step daughter drew this tag and he is seeking information on where to hunt or if anyone knows who to contact for permission on private property. He is going to scout next weekend and knock on doors but is calling around for help.  I thought maybe someone on here might  be able to help.  Thanks its for a kid.

Isn't that tag good here in like a couple weeks? Not trying to be rude, but why wait until now to start scouting or seeking permission from private landowners? I'm in no way directing this at you or the youth permit holder, but why do people continue to put in for tags they don't take the time to research? Why not start securing permission months ago. I just hate to see a good tag go to waste because of a lack of pre-season effort. Sorry for the rant guys.  :twocents:

Like I said, it wasn't intended for you. Sorry to hear about the difficult circumstances, research should have been done regardless. Only 14 days prior to when the permit holder is about to hunt. I sent you a PM to pass along to your friend.

The regulations say it starts November 5th.  :dunno:

Also has a note for that hunt: "Private lands; access is extremely limited; if you cannot secure access to private lands do not apply for this hunt."

So this is a hunt that a person should not apply for without knowing ahead of time where they are going to hunt.

Just sayin'.

Bobcat, the youth hunt is Oct. 15th and the Nov. hunt is non-youth.

Bobcat it is the youth which is oct.15th thru 21st and it didnt state private lands  I looked at it earlier after he called.  I do see the hunt your talking about and it says private lands  it must been a misprint on the WDFW part for not including it on the youth permit portion.  There really is not a lot of choices for are youth for elk.

OK sorry I guess I should have paid more attention to the word "Youth" in the title of this thread.   :sry:

But seriously from what I've heard, that is a bad permit to get if you don't already know some landowners in the area. But at least he might have a chance, since people are likely to be more willing to give permission to a kid than an adult. He should take her with him and get out there and start knocking on doors- like tomorrow!

I would do some internet hunting first.  The Master Hunter program has a few contacts with landowners in North Bend who have elk problems.  So look into WDFW Master Hunter program, and you should find some good info. Should be an easy tag to fill.

Contact the Upper Snoqualmie Valley Elk Management Group. There whole purpose is working with landowners to control the elk and elk issues in the North Bend area.

I had this tag 2 years ago when it first came out, knock on doors talk to people and maybe try to get the lady to shoot a freindlier gun to the non hunters like a 12g with slugs or muzzy, there is no public land to hunt in that permit area

x2 what bigtex wrote
