Have had 2 pairs of the perfekts. Bought both pairs on clearance . Decent boot and have put a lot of miles on both pairs but not that water proof. Looking at Hanwags or Sportivas for next purchase.

Definitely put after market insoles in them.

This is a pic of a pair of warm dry feet halfway through a 8 mile wet hike with more than a dozen rocky water crossings.  I started the day with warm dry feet, and i ended the day with warm dry feet. Just about everything else was wet, but not the feet.

They did great on the mossy rocks, snow, and water crossings.  Support was awesome jumping from boulder to boulder.

I have had my Alaskans for 6 years now and they are as good as the day I got them!  The only time I don't wear the Alaskans is when I am turkey hunting.  The first year I had them they came turkey hunting with me and after a 17 mile day marching the hard gravel roads of goldendale I didn't think I was ever going to walk again!  Get them off road and I would put them up against any boot on the market today!

i have a pair of perfekt hunters, walked close to 14 miles one day, in montana this year, there was snow on the ground about 8 degrees with wind chill. My feet felt BETTER after it was all done that day than wearing a comfortable pair of running shoes. I swear that whole boot is a science experiment, its how footwear is supposed to be made. kept me perfect temp all day to and dry, no sweat or leakage. mendiel makes hands down the best boots. Even during bow season when it was hell on earth hot my feet stayed just fine all day with a nice silk lining and warm weather hiking sock. Stiff breaking them in though. hands down will never buy another boot unless it says mendiel on it. worth every penny, would still buy them even if they doubled the price.

Model is Island MFS Active
http://www.unterwegs.biz/en/island-mfs-active-487573.html

Those are the ones you want!  Great purchase.  They have the Meindle hardware on them like Cabela's used to before they went cheap.  Those should last you a good long time.  Cabela's needs to re-think their ways and quit ruining such a great product with cheap hardware.  All the northern guides I know used to be Meindle through Cabela's.  Now I do not know a single one that still does.  The only one I know that still uses Meindle gets the 100% European model like you have there.
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

I was thinking the same thing.  Pants get wet, socks get wet, feet get wet...in that order.  I love wearing my hikers around but no matter how waterproof they are, if you walk through some wet grass/water and you're pants get wet, your feet are next.

Spent so much on your boots, and couldn't afford the matching pants...what can I say?  I'm just trying to help a guy out.

On a more serious note, when are you getting back to Germany?   Our list is coming out Wednesday.

I have Kennetrek Mtn Extremes. (uninsulated) While I have only had them since Christmas, I FREAKIN LOVE THEM. I have worn them everyday. Coyote hunting, work the bar.....They are great, and surprisingly warm
