2012 catfishing meet, Jun 15, 16, & 17th
« on: December 26, 2011, 04:14:31 AM »
well its time to think about catfishing again.I wonder who might think a week later would be better or leave it at the 1st weekend in June?,,,,a few things to know about camping there, the wind can really blow,so make sure to have a well staked out tent and fly cause it has rained very hard before...no campfires where we camp..bait we use is fish, trout pike minnows pea mouth, suckers if ya have them...light to medium gear, potluck and catfish tournament is Saturday...elite1 runs that and does a fine job  indeed..the little store has some items to get buy but they are proud of them so plan ahead to save a few bucks, the have a restaurant with crappy hrs..they sleep in,lol..If its still there starbucks has a great bar with killer food homemade...check out last years pic in the event topics.make reservations at lyons ferry KOA

I would LOVE it if it was a week later.  My mule club does the Reardan Mule Days every year and it's always that weekend.  So I can't come down until after the Parade.  This year I'm the club President so I might not make it down until Sat evening.  But I'm still coming whatever weekend you decide to have it.

as late in June as you can make it. Kids get out of school on the 15th. the closer to that the better. they don't do anything the last week or two anyway. Jkleen, a 10' livingston would be a good boat but you do have a mile or so of snake river and the palouse mouth to traverse til you get to the fishing grounds. there are places to fish along the way though. what size is the arima? I was there last year fishing a Northwest Jet 21 foot boat with a 150hp yamaha prop. I did sand some paint off the lower unit though. this year, i will be using the kicker to go the 100yards of shallow water. all the rest of the river is 4 to 15 foot deep. did have a bit of a pucker going on running at 35mph in 1.7 feet of water for the 100 yards or so.

Arima is a 19', but if I make it I will be pulling my trailer with the livingston on top of the truck. A mile isn't bad. I use to run several miles in NC looking for cats in a john boat I rented from health and recreation office on base.
it will take ya awhile, and the snake can get ugly..they have showers and stuff if ya wanted to tent camp thats what we do for a week.

Rasbo, what about the wind? are the winds better a little later in the month or does it matter. I would hate to see a repeat of last year

I'm in again. I leave for Mexico June 19. So hopefully it's before then.

I've tried unsuccessfully to make each of the previous rendezvous.  Hopefully the dates you settle on this year will be during my time off work; I have 1/2 the month off, so it should be a 50/50 chance, but I've yet to land on the good side of the 50/50.  Maybe this is the year!

I'd like to go this year also, but as someone already said, the likds are in school until the 15th.
