Honestly fish appears quite health and probably is just fine.   Healthier than when caught in a natives net, a sportsmans cooler, or a sealions mouth.    I would have guessed way less than that in size, but who cares.  Nice fish and thanks for releasing it.

Agreed on all counts. I handle fish over the side in boats whenever feasible but it just isn't always possible, same goes for fish caught from the bank. As for the picture, I've had gamies encourage me to take a pic before putting fish back before! The fish looks both gently and sensibly handled, it's eyeballing the water pretty hard!
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

Brother Tony tips the scales at about 270, and is about 6 feet tall.  He's the one holding it because he landed it.  We didn't want to handle it too much, so I just pulled my phone out of my pocket and snapped a shot.
It was a wild fish, and yes we did lift it up just long enough for the picture.  The fish swam away without having to be revived.

You are killing the thread and taking way too much away from this fish and the accomplishment of catching it..

Ok Ok. let's all calm down a little. Lets get this back on track. Any more jabs they will just go into the trash.

I don't really see where anyone is all fired up or taking jabs. :dunno: this thread has actually stayed surprisingly civil. :twocents:

Agreed. I think the original poster showed some very good handling skills....I see the towel on the fishes tail....I'm sure that helped his grip and prevented the fish from getting dropped or knocked around. It also shows consideration (if it was damp) of the fishes slime coat not being wiped off.

Personlly I tried to balance my posts with respect to commenting on the quality of the fish and the fact that I would not broadcast the fact that it is all the way out of the water.

I've seen posts with oversized sturgeon being posed with in a boat (taken down), a proud dad posting a pic of his bow with an archery shot song bird (good shot) (also taken down), a suspected flashlight on a bow (never confirmed, taken down)...all treated with much more criticism.

I'm okay with any of my comments being edited by the moderators if deemed inflamatory or inappropriate...just don't think I've posted any that would be considered out of line.

 :yeah:

I have to agree with H20....the fish looks to be handled well.....but.....I have seen pictures with less incrimination taken down......I may not agree with the law entirely but it is a law that has been around for few years now and has been discussed in depth on many, if not all, fishing forums......my comment was just to point out what I suspected and has now been confirmed as a wild fish out of the water and that I wouldnt leave it up.....I am not taking away from the fish....it is a very nice specimen....I would agree with a few others about doubting its size but it is a fishermans tale....everyone has one....

It all has to do with who you are around here. We get a warning on this thread but where was the moderation on cascade fishermans "big skykomish steelie" thread? I'm sure he would have appreciated it. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
