As this progresses it would be nice for people that hit on something that really works for them to post their tips. I know it is a contest but I think it is really about all of our health. Who knows, you help someone take off 50 lbs. that person just might be the one to help you pack that elk out of the canyon.

That's a great idea.  It doesn't have to be radical and starving yourself is NOT the answer.  I gotta tell you the reason the Nutrisystem is so good is becasue it is so fricken easy to do and stay on.  I have tried diets in the past and always fail because they are too hard to follow.  This thing is amazingly easy, I am never hungry and the weight does come off regularly and consistently.  105 pounds in 182 days and that was not doing anything other than following the plan to a "T" and walking most every day.  I'm really looking forward to this weeks weigh in becasue I have already tightened my belt two notches.

One thing for the ladies, do NOT be discouraged by the hug numbers some of these guys are going to post.  I visit the Nutrisystem website and most of them are ladies and they ALL loose at a much slower weight in the beginning, so don't get discouraged!!!!

It's up to you guys but, it will help motivate  :)

Ok Ok, all of you guys just shouting your weight out has guilted me into it -  put me in at starting weight of 244 :yike:, goal by September is 195, or otherwise known as a good start...

p.s. this is after a 30 lb weight loss already this past year - low carb, increased exercise - I was practically jogging the Pheasant fields this year, it felt so good to be lighter! I am looking forward to the Turkey Hunt and to another summer to improve my bottom line as it were before Pheasant Season!

p.s.s. Add some grilled chicken to that "DamnDietSalad" and you have got a much more satifying meal :-D

p.s.s.s. Use up that game meat in your freezer by grilling for salads or a vegetable stir fry! Steaks of vension are super healthy! Just no rice or pasta. My husband has been making these amazing venison burgers (no beef fat added thank you - just some egg and whole wheat crushed crackers) that we eat with some sauteed mushrooms and a slice of Swiss Cheese - you won't miss the bun!

You are very brave! I am not quite there yet...maybe after a couple weeks I will have guilted myself to it as well. I did take a before pic and skitched my weight into the picture....so at the end I will post it no matter what...well if I don't lose any I might not!   :dunno:

I have started going to the gym Mon- Fri mornings. I also try to hike badger in the evenings and on the weekends!  This will be just the motivation I need!

Bought a scale. For now it is my enemy, but we've come to an uneasy truce. Initial weigh in 272. Hoping to shed 50+ pounds this summer.

Machias,
Thanks for the words of encouragement and thanks for getting this started.  I have an idea that might help as well.  I don't want guys to get discouraged if they see others getting better results than theirs and giving up because they won't be "in the running" for the knife.  I think if we get a few others to maybe offer a prize it might help keep more people motivated.

That being said I will donate something for the contest, maybe a gift certificate for one of Bone's 2013 calendars, if that can be worked out with Bone.  If not I will find something else to donate.

I believe he stated monday morning was the deadline but it wasn't a requirement to post everyweek just as  long as we had the final weigh-in by aug. 31.  Weekly weigh-in was for motivation for everybody to keep pushing on.

I will throw in 25 bucks as well...maybe we can have Machias take a collection and it can go towards the knife or for him to get other prizes.....or is that not allowed?

I'll tell you what. If I can lose 40 lbs that would be the biggest prize of all.
