Price jump on OIL tags!
« on: April 17, 2012, 04:31:16 PM »
Holy smokes! Talk about an increase. From $122 to $332 in one year. That's crazy. Maybe it will keep some from applying improving the odds. I wish they would go back to when you had to front the tag fee to apply. The odds were a lot better then.

I agree with you, that increase is BS. There is already a thread on this at Other Big game on the very top called 2011 OIL tags, fyi.

It may well keep the average hunter from applying, making OIL a rich man only game....

This year I bet a lot of people won't even know about the increase until they get drawn and have to pay for it.

Dang...... The longer I live here the less I like how the wdfw do things.  Think I'll save my $$ for the special apps and just go out of state again.  Hunting has become a rich mans sport.......wish I were rich.

Come on man, really? There is NO WAY you would let $200 keep you from a once in a lifetime sheep hunt if you drew one of the big horn ram hunts. If after applying for years, you finally draw that Asotin tag and can't afford the extra $200 (ONE TIME PAYMENT IN LIFETIME) then perhaps those people should not be applying from the get go. :twocents:

I won't complain about the moose, sheep, and goat tag prices. I think they're well worth the money. They've been under-priced for years.

All I will do is skip any pre-season scouting trips I may have done, and instead just drive to the area two days before the season opener, and basically camp out where ever I hunt. I can save several hundred dollars on fuel just by limiting how much driving I do for the hunt. (if I'm so lucky to be drawn)

I agree a couple tanks of gas will not keep me from buying or applying for them.

They will have some extra money to go with the multi season money :peep: and the discover pass money :peep:

I spend over $3000 to apply for sheep in NM and $2500 for moose, sheep and goat in MT. I'm definitely not letting $211 stand in the way of a OIL tag. I just think that that much increase in one year is crap. At this rate, before you know it our resident fee's will be more than MT nonres fees. :twocents:

Look at oregon there licenses and tags went up about 3x the normal price in one year. I had no problem with the tags going up. I am not going to spend a bunch of money to buy a license that I will never use, just to be able to put in for special permits.

Guys with lots of money just don't mind these increases unlike the rest of us, if I was rich I probably wouldn't give a chit either.

 :yeah:

Heck the multi deer or elk  is over 1/2 of that amount. I would easily pay that for a OIL. Heck give up a few luxuries for the year. Bike to work to get in shape and easily make up for it in fuel savings.  :dunno:
