Bullet / powder combo?
« on: June 28, 2018, 09:08:49 AM »
I just purchased a new Knight Ultralite and now looking to hear what you guys suggest for a good bullet / powder elk smacking combo.  I know from past experience each ML is different and what might work well for one gun might not work well for another.  Thanks to Sabotloader for All is help and hand-holding throughout the purchase process.  I値l add that this bad boy is 209 ready so let痴 hear your thoughts on what値l work well on that bull of a lifetime...

Deadly...

A Lehigh .425x265 CF bullet.  It really comes very close to matching the Terminal Performance of the brass .458's.  But the real advantage for you there are 3 different thicknesses of sabots for a 45cal x 50.

This ballistic was computed shooting 120 gr. T7-2f - but using 120gr by Vol. of BH209 will add another 50-75 FPS to the velocity of the bullet.

Keep shooting muzzleloaders - They are a blast!!

If you get a chance, check out No Excuse bullets.  I really like how they group out of my muzzy!

I use Barnes bullets, their terminal performance is outstanding and consistent. If they shoot good out of your gun (I've never shot a Knight) I don't think there is a better bullet. I think they make them with 2 different size sabots, a blue and a yellow. I load 150grains (when Elk Hunting) of Pyrodex pellets but am looking to switch over to 209 and with that change will look into use Triple 7, which is MUCH cleaner......so I hear.
