Tuna booked
« on: July 11, 2019, 08:13:25 AM »
Well, I had so much fun with all rivers charters for salmon and rockfish that I just booked a tuna trip for a buddy and myself for August 1st.  Let's hope the tuna show up by then.  Been wanting to do this for a few years now and finally decided it's time!

Good call, assuming the boat your on finds the fish it will likely be the funnest fishing you have ever done. Those fish are crazy powerful for there size.

Hopefully they show up by then, they are still a long ways out. Definitely a fun day if you get into them.

BE WARNED!!!! It will sink its claws in you and you will be a tuna hoe for life. We did 75 fish my first trip out and the next year I had a custom live bait rod and all the gear to go with it. It can be a very intense experience depending what type of fishing your doing. Trolling them up can get kinda boring but running and gunning watching for birds and jumpers gets a little crazy.

Water temps are plenty warm.  Just no fish.  Tempbreak.com is easy to use and good enough for what you are looking for.  Images aren't great right now because of cloud cover.

I would not loose hope yet...some good reports coming from the commercial fleet and tuna move fast.  The full moon will be gone and looks like a north blow is coming so Aug 1st could be money for sure.  I am fishing in Alaska and return next week to start Aug 1st myself and I feel really confident fish will be within range...I am not nervous at all at this point...... but I am damn glad I did not book any July trips this year as well!

35-40 miles is what I'm hearing .. which is better than the 60-70 I was running last year...it should be good fishing for awhile. Good luck.

Very slow day today.  11 total for our boat.  Found one bait ball that we pulled 7 of the 11 off of.  Rough waters too.  I nor.ally dont get sea sick when I do my dramamine routine, but still got sick today in the afternoon

Not great numbers, but you got fish, cant complain about that. Sounds like they are just a little late this year. I am hoping for a bait bite. How far out did you have to run?
