By unit I'm guessing he meant GMU when he said leaving the unit, which is only in part made up of Hancock managed lands.

I would just give them a call and ask.  :twocents:

All Hancock lands around us in 673 were still closed due to fire danger when I left my camp on Tuesday to drive home. Hancock started issuing citations Sunday. A guy in camp talked to the Hancock security and was told they have already had wardens come out seize bulls and arrest people poaching their land. Not joking.

I was told they may stay closed thru muzzy season. They wanted “significant rainfall”

Hancocks phone line says pacific and wahkiakum co will open tomorrow. Likewise Lewis&Clark.

Not that it matters, I was down there (530, 506, 681, 673) from Sat-Wed going on what state land was open, and there were 3 trucks parked in front of every timberland gate trespassing and poaching. Reported who I could, doubt anything will come of it. Covid has all the court systems and jails closed so there are no enforcement actions to take. Warden says they’re trying to keep a list for the landowners so they can ban their access in the future, but I’m not hopeful.

Those people will lose that access for all of us. Lots of folks having campfires on state land too.

What do u think the violation would be called if a guy had a ebike on Hancock land and got sighted by wdfw or security?

You’d have to check the sign at a Hancock gate if they allow them or not. The screen cap is from Lewis&Clark. I’d imagine they could probably charge you with trespassing or something though if you violated their rules of entry. They’d probably treat it like they’d treat you camping in there in violation of the signs, Hancock has something on their signs about “motorized access”.

I asked Hancock Security this question last Thursday.
Criminal Trespass and denied access from Hancock.
He said that several timber groups decided this together and they would all honor it.
The security guys name is Dave and he works for Hancock if you want to confirm.
He was calling the Sheriff on a Hunter Huntin during fire season and blocking a gate when we spoke.
Super nice man.
Definitely not worth it to me.

A violation of landowner's regs can be charged under criminal trespass 2nd degree. Same offense as if you entered the land without a permit at all.

I haven't had the fortune to run into WDFW LEO while I have had my Hancock permit. I Have ran into the security/surveyor Jack of all trades enforcement officer one time. He has so much land to patrol he said he was spread pretty thin. Gave me his cell number and told me if see anything to give him a call.
