True, kinda like punching your elk/deer tag opening morning.  I had to get to work today, so all good.

Crowds weren't too bad.  Although I was packed up and leaving before a lot had arrived.  Passed the mooching charters just heading out while I was on my way back to the ramp.

Had time for a quick trip with my daughter before heading to the airport on Thursday.  Had a hard stop at 6:30a.  But tide, bait and fish cooperated for the time we had.

Last fish was the coho on the left, which appeared to be an early ocean fish.  Very different than the resident coho we've been catching for the last seven weeks (see example on the right)...super bright, big scales, two pounds bigger, cut orange (not red like the residents).

For some reason I was under the impression area 10 was opening up again on Thursday the 1st like area 11.  Now I cant find anything on the wdfw website that supports that.  Is 10 open Thursday or am I just wishful thinking?

The things that come to those who wait, may be the things left by those who got there first!

Looks like they just opened for one more day on 8/4, Sunday. At this catch rate, maybe will get another day or two after that.

Got back from traveling just in time for the emergency king opener.  Here are my fish from today.  Lots of fish around, made for a quick morning.  Nice that we got these last couple days, MA10 really gets good when you get into August.

Nice.

I'm still waiting for a reopening in MA-9.  I guess I shouldn't hold my breath.

Dang it!!  We fished 11 Sunday and kicked ourselves for not heading up there.  Nice haul.

9 is at 97 percent encounter total. It won't reopen.

Love that math. Suppose I only pay the state 97% of what I owe them.

if it hits 100% of encounter quota they will shut down/shorten coho.
they leave encounters on the table for that reason.

but, hit A10 yesterday afterwork..2 hours and 2 nice fish (15+)
id personally take a late july/august season over the early mid july season...i've personally caught more big fish in august in the past than july.
