Ya'll should get off his case, he's not saying that people are stopping to look at a deer standing out in his yard, he is saying they are stopping and glassing his yard. There is a big difference.
So if I use the naked eye it is ok, but as soon as I use binoculars I am hunting? Just want to make sure I have all the "rules" down...

I live at the end of a county road. I cant even keep track of how many hunters drive up and down the road at 5mph. THEN STOP AND GLASS MY FIELD. Whats the deal?  Why would any hunter drive up and down roads that are completely private property, then glass property they dont have permission to hunt. What the heck, gonna shoot a deer in my front yard!!! I might lose my mind if it continues. Sorry guys. Had to vent. :bash:
Must take him a long time to mow  :dunno:

Sorry it sounds to me like someone that has land and doesn't like poeple to drive down the county rd and look at the deer in his land! Get over it and used to it cause no matter what is said I'll never stop doing it! maybe just open it to hunting  :dunno:

It may be irritating, but it is plain wrong to label every one of these guys as a law breaker just waiting to blast a deer out of your yard.  I do not road hunt, period.  I will not even shoot a deer that I happen across while driving a dirt road in the middle of nowhere. However, plenty of times you could see me driving roads glassing at deer on private property with no intention of trying to shoot one.  I just like to look at bucks and there is nothing wrong with that.  Some of these guys might be bored because they haven't found a buck to shoot and they would at least like to see one.

This attitude is why my property and most others will never be open to the public.

Maybe you should sell your land and move to the city. Sorry, but thats part of country and rural living. Gonna have to get used to it.

Think there has to be a middle ground here.....  If someone is just looking and not causing a ruckus then let'm be.  If they are spotlighting, or acting suspicious then do something about it (go talk to them or call the cops).  Just remember if they are just glassing or looking they are breaking no laws.  Make sure your land is clearly marked as private and let'm look.  If you are really that worried sell and buy land that is further off the beaten path and lock your PRIVATE driveway.   :twocents:

Being a landowner I can understand where your coming from. But on the flipside I often stop to look at deer when I'm driving with no intention of shooting or hunting them. I'm sure the extra traffic gets annoying, but probably not much you can do.

It is well established that wildlife is owned by the people of the state.  If folks are driving down a public road looking at public wildlife that happens to be standing on private land....too bad for the sniveling landowner!  Those people driving on that county road...they pay taxes to build and maintain that road...if they want to drive up and down it that is their choice.

Now, if folks are poaching, hang em' high...but I will tell you that I often drive county roads and glass wildlife on private land.  I might even be wearing orange if I'm driving between hunting spots.  Bottom line, most hunters have a passion for wildlife and enjoy seeing game even if they know they can't shoot it.  Since the wildlife and the roads are owned and managed with public resources...I see no good reason for private landowners to complain about legal wildlife viewing.

my area is south of spokane about 20 miles, 90 percent of the hunters, a term i use loosely are intending to trespass and drive around all day with that intent.. this year one even decided to get into a head on collision with a neighbor. i hate their guts frankly.
i got one arrested last year for loaded gun in vehicle and trespass. this year i got two arrested, both for same. i hunt trespassing road hunting slobs as much as i hunt deer. becoming a hobby in my neck of the woods for alot of us. finally getting some enforcement out here. cant wait for the decoy next year.....you know who you are, im sure a few of you are on here, that was your only warning.
just because somebody is looking at deer doesnt mean theyre hunting.  id never shoot from a truck or trespass to take an animal but damn it i love to look at deer

To me There is a big difference in driving by and seeing deer on private property THEN taking a look at them......and stopping to LOOK FOR deer on private property

I live on a "road" which is more of a driveway to my house and neighbors horse barn....my house is the only house. And its ALL private property around my house. My neighbors property is posted every 20 yards "no trespassing""no hunting" and he has timber. My side of the road is all cattle pasture that is posted.
We get a few people who drive down and turn around during hunting season. And they all creep down the road watching the timber on my neighbors property. It is extremely well posted property but people still watch it like they're hunting.

We've even had a couple guys get out, jump the fence, and walk past the timber to look at the elk through the trees up on his clear cut hill. All while I sat right there shooting my bow on his property (I have permission to be there, and hunt....if he'd take the no hunting signs down  )...these guys didn't care that I might have been the land owner as I sat 50yds from them jumping the fence and walking 200yds onto private property.

I never mind the people who drive down the road because it's a road. And I don't mind the people watching for animals.........BUT i do mind what I see people do after they see the animals they are looking for. It blows my mind at times

I wonder how some of these folks that see nothing wrong with it or better yet stop on the road when no traffic is around run over into the ditch and take a dump would like it if we came over thir neighborhoods and *censored* in their yards Yes it happens. Wish I had a way to get addresses for license plates because I would do just that and leave a message returned the favor

I could be wrong and please correct me if I am. I thought somehow that if the property is posted " no hunting" even the land owner by law could not hunt that land either... Some guy from the local NRA was talking to me about that... Just hear say, speculation...  :dunno:
