You guys really think they went through all that trouble, wasted money and time and searched the house to try and find one native steelhead or do you think that maybe there is more to the story?

Agreed.  I highly doubt they would have given the kid a ticket even if they caught him in the act (assuming he was just holding the fish up gently for a picture).

Based off the info given it would seem that a gamie coming to educate the kid on what is a clear violation of the law would have been sufficient. I think again based on the info given going to the level that WDFW did seems excessive, but given the history between WDFW and BH45 not really a suprise.

I think they call that probably cause......kinda like not turning down your high beams, crossing the yellow line, taillight out, sort of thing.   Next thing you know you are cuffed and standing next to the mile marker while 4 officers search your car.

We would be celebrating if they were doing their job and caught a poaching ring or something like that.   We can celbrate that one of our own is ok and everything is good.

But that is not justification to waste our money.  Furthermore, it is not justification to persecute somebody.  The law isn't a popularity contest.

The Prosecuting attorney who asked for the warrant, and the judge who issued it should explain themselves

And probably wasn't.  What jurisdiction was it?  We can look up the public record and see what the judge felt was probable cause to search his home.

I disagree. Like I said it may have been over the top a bit, but was justified. Would they do that to you or I probably not, but there is a contentious history there between them.

What agency showed up at your house and what court is on the paperwork?  Let us know and we can find out exactly what the grounds were for probable cause.

Hard to believe this many man hours and resources were used over a picture posted on Facebook, all over a fish being held out of the water?

There has got to be more to this than is being disclosed, lets see that paperwork.

Proof's in the pudding, as they say.  BH has logged on a few times since I asked for clarification but it appears that none is forthcoming?

The fact that yeaaaars ago (or whenverever it was) some old men sat around a table and decided to make a law saying its illiegal to hold a native fish out of the water, and now people act like you just robbed a bank if you do, is funny to me....
