Fire cure/fire brine or procure?

Just wondering what works best in the NW.

I like "Nate's" cures the most but I haven't used his egg cure yet. Will try it this summer after I get some pinks. Nate's for prawns and sardine wraps and Pro Cure's Brine n' Bite for herring.

I have used them all...  Old school borax only or borax with jello...

I prefer a different method for every specie of fish in the season I'm fishing for them.  Spring cures are totally different fall cures.

Whats the difference? I dont want to make up a bunch of prawns and have them not work.

I understand that but do you use different sugars?  Or is it "classiflyed"?

Basically use different brines, dyes, methods, etc.  For example, I really like a pale orange egg look for fall steelies.  Prefer fire red shrimp for sockeye.  Pale pink corn for kokanee.  Electric blue herring for summer run chinook.  Etc.  One thing I will say, is don't overlook jello.

Pautzke Fire Cure. I have caught winter-run, summer-run, springers, summer kings and fall kings using it.

Fire cure is what I use for most all salmon. Steelhead its pro cure natural or red if its humpy eggs. Just a little hint a little nectar never hurt either...

Good post.  But I would warn to be sure you do not use sugar free jello.  Fish do not like aspartame or splenda.  Jello mainly for spring fish.  Salty for fall and winter fish.

Jello is in most of my steelhead cures. My  sweet for steelhead chemicals for salmon, however tidewater/lower river salmon prefer a sweeter cure while up river they prefer a more chemically cure.

Pro-cure flo red and strawberry jello mix for Kings......orange jello and solubore for steelhead. If you are asking what is the best in the NW, you are going to get 1,000 different guys telling you 1,000 different cures, and ways to cure. Everyone has their favorite..... and just like everyone else, Mine is the best way!!! LOL
