Who is buying a new bow in 2009 and if so what are you getting?

I ordered the 35, I like the longer axle to axle length, and its only 6 fps slower and we all know how i feel about that.......... BULLCANYON.. thats good you feel the same way, and I agree with you thats why I shoot 60lbs as well.

I'm not gettting a new bow anytime soon, but I'd love to make the switch back to the longbow. A Howard Hill bow sounds good to me.

I was in Eugene most all of last week for work and stopped by BowTechs pro shop before leaving on Friday.  Lets just say if I get a new bow it will be a Admiral.

I'm not a split limb fan so I have stayed away from the Bowtech and PSE, that and I just can't afford them. I like the Martin bows and currently hunt with an older MArtin Phantom II. I'm thinking of getting a new Martin bow and have yet to decide on the Warthog, Firecat or the MOAB. I'm leaning more towards the MOAB.

why do you not like split limb bows? they are more efficient, lighter and stronger.. also I shot a martin phantom 2 for a year or so before I got my hoyt... fun bow,  it got the job done!! my buddy shoots it now and took a huge 4x4 blackie in cali with it this year

After selling my Matthews (Z-Max) and not hunting for a few years, I decided it was time to get back in the game. I bought a 2 year old PSE that was hardly used, sweet package that was ready to hunt.
Figured I would use it this year then buy a new Matthews for next year, well, I may just stick with what I have or get a new PSE, though its a bit heavier then my old Matthews, it shoots great, I honestly feel more confident with this bow then I did with my high $$$ Matthews.
I'll definitely kick some tires before I buy anything but I'm definitely impressed with the PSE.

I what way are they more efficient? To each his own and mine is I prefer a single limb bow. I don't have a technical reason why I don't care for a split limb, I'm old fashioned and don't care for the look. Plus, I'm hard on my gear when hunting rough terrain and feel a single limb will hold up to a beating when I lose my footing and fall on my 4th point of contact (for the non paratrooper thats butt) or bang it against a rock when scaling around rock ledges.

a split limb is more efficient in they are faster then a solid limb for the poundage, also lighter, and todays split limb bows are stronger, alot of solid limb bows crack at the point where the limb goes into the limb pocket, its a weak spot on most, with a split limb you do not have that issue.. but both types of bows are ncie and shoot well..... enjoy

I am planning to buy a traditional bow between now and the first of the year.  It's been a long time since I shot one, but I am determined to get back into it.  Hubby insists I should go the compound route, but thats not what I want right now.

I've been researching an upgrade to my Martin Jaguar.  I bought my current bow as a starter bow in June since it wasn't much and if I didn't like bowhunting, I could sell it and get some of my money back.  Well, as it turns out I really liked archery.  While poking around online, I came across Reflex bows.  They seemed nice and noticed it's a subsidary of Hoyt.  i really like the Growler and had an oppurtunity to shoot one last night at Cabela's.  Now I REALLY like it.  Any opinions on this choice?

still the alphamax for me, i also love the guys that buy based on speed... from my tests with a hooter shooter  fixed blades group best at 260-280fps anything past that and they are not that great...... so 300+ fps to me is worthless

I always buy based on speed. My fixed blade broadheads are grouping at 90 and 100 yards coming off my bow at 300 fps.


In fact I have shot three blade fixed broadheads as fast as 352 fps out at 90 yards and grouped up just fine.

At any rate the new Monster XLR8 will most likley be my new bow this coming year. Wonder how fast it will propel my arrows?
