tikka t3 7mm rem mag

Been thinking about getting a new rifle for a while now and was leaning towards this little beauty. Just wanted to hear the good the bad and the ugly. Looking to use as an all around gun. From dogs to bears no longer than 1000 yards. May try to stretch that at a range though. Accessories prices? What are you guys using and seeing?

Never owned a T3 but the 7mm is my go to caliber.

Many tikka owners here. You will be hard pressed to find someone who does not like them. For there price point they are the best gun out there. You will get 2 things from people who don't like them 1: cheap stock 2: cheap magazine. Both of which can be replaced and there is plenty of options now days to do so. You won't hear that they shoot bad. Even people that hate them "yet have never owned them " will say they can't argue with how well they can shoot.

    I liked my tikka 300wsm enough to put a b&c stock and husky blue diamond on it. Its a repeat long and close range killer. The 7mm cartridge you are thinking about is another of my favs. for hunting. Should be a great combo.

For what its worth, I have a Tikka T3 in the .300 WSM and put a 4.5 x 14 Leupold on it and love the set up.  My dad has been shooting a Remington in the 7 MM Mag since he bought it the first year the 700 BDL came out in 7 MM Mag (I think it was 1962).  I don't think you can go wrong with the combination of the Tikka and the 7 MM Mag.  Good luck and enjoy shooting long and straight!

I think it was 1962 when the 7 mm rem came cuz I was in college and a rich friend of mine bought one for $155.  I bought mine a year lATER AND REPLACED IT ABOUT 5 YEARS ago with a tikka 25-06 and luv it.  the 7 got to heavy cuz I am old.   mike w

T3 lite or superlite is the best value in its price range.  7mm RM if you want flat shooting.  30-06 if you want a little bigger hole.  7-08 if you want a little more pleasant range time with it.

All three of my t3's will drive tacks, no matter the scope setups I've had on over the years. Currently 22-250 blued 4-12x40 vx2, many coyotes and bobcat, 300wsm s.s. 4.5-14x50 lr, deer dead in tracks more times than not, and finally a trusty 30-06 Burris 3-9x40 s.s. just for backup. Mags are a slight downfall at 62 $ each but I have nothing bad to say about the t3 line. As far as calibers go I haven't been around too many 7's that hadn't killed game. No shot is repeatable so to compare shot to shot is pointless, however some calibers are known for killing in front and crippling behind. Be confident in your skill with the given weapon and learn from past experiences.

I have a tikka in 300wm and love it, put a brake and a limbsaver on it and it shoots like a 243. Plan on adding a b and c stock this summer

While the Tikka T3 is one heck of a good gun and the 7mm is capable I think your kidding yourself if you think you'll be killing bear at 1,000 yards plus with one.  Even with after market stock and $2,000 glass I'd never take a 1,000 yard shot at a bear with a Tikka.  Not even on a perfect day.  That's best left for TV shows targeted to sell bullets and custom rifles.

I'm not even sure I'd take that shot with a 27" RBros.  Well, Maybe...if I was Jim the Plumber

Would rather have my 338 Edge than a 7mm dor a 1,000 yard bear! But really, my bear last year was 15 yrds with a 300 ultra! Will be chasing them with my new ancient Spirits 58" longbow this year! Time to put the "hunting",  back into hunting!!
