Hunting Washington West Side
« on: June 05, 2014, 01:29:07 PM »
Hey all. Name is Matt. I have been in Washington for the better part of 3 years now, but due to a deployment and multiple training events, this will be my first year i'm available to hunt. I understand the whole hunting regulations, with having to pick one season, archery or modern etc. What I am wondering though is where do you guys hunt? I am wanting to try Bear and Deer this year and MAYBE Elk, IDK. I am from Georgia and am no stranger to hunting, but down there is tons of WMAs(Public Land), a bunch of private property etc. Multiple calls to the Go Hunt WA center fielded nothing but the guy telling me to go to Capitol Forest.... I went there last year towards the end of the season when I got back and counted upwards of 20 trucks  :o Anybody willing to share their wisdom and expertise I am more then willing to listen. Thanks guys.

I would suggest buying a Weyerhaeuser access permit this year. Doesn't really matter which one. Any of them will get you into lots of good country with less pressure than any of the public areas.

Welcome to the site  :hello:  Great question and first post btw.
Be more concerned with your character than your reputation. Your character is who you actually are while your reputation is merely who others think you are.

If you are in the army there is some good dear hunting on JBLM. Go to the base rec center. They have maps and can give you the skinny. Even civilians can hunt the base if you're one of those now.

there is a place on whidbey island but it's military only... unless you know someone who can escort you on as a guest and you can hunt with them

Thank you guys for the warm welcome. Excited to be apart of this community! I love hunting and can't wait to do it here. I will check out on post hunting. I tried doing a search, but do any of you guys ever get together and have a big hunting camp? I got a newer F350 that needs to get some hunting break in!

Late deer season can get some big bucks out toward the east gate. It just depends what areas range control has open.
