Cleman Mtn B Sheep tag
« on: June 27, 2014, 11:21:09 AM »
For all who drew a Cleman Mountain B bighorn sheep tag, the opening day has been changed from Nov 3 to Nov 5.

I guess it's been in the reg's since June 6th but I just noticed it today.

Two more days to scout, or....two more nights of sleepless anticipation?

Well, I was thinking about skipping the first couple of days, so I could hopefully have the whole mountain to myself. But now I'm not sure when I want to go. It's a good problem to have.

The ruts in full swing at the end of oct. And they're bunched up fighting so I'd focus my efforts at the beginning of the hunt period. :twocents:

I'd be finding a ram a couple days before season and camping on him. Don't let someone else get him. You doing your exercises?

Me - I'd be headed over Friday evening the 31st.  Hit the hills Saturday AM and as jackelope suggested, find your ram again (assuming you have found him repeatedly prior) and keep tabs on him.  Right down to what time he poops in the AM.  Squeeze the trigger Wednesday morning.  You'll be posting your story by that evening.  :)

Let me know what cave you want me to tie one up in. I do have a secret srea fenced off up there with old barbed wire fencing.

The biggest rams dont get shot at or even seen every year.

You're fencing must've been broken a couple years ago because I got a big boy and he was smaller then the big 1 I was trying to get. Bobcat, to my knowledge the big boy I was chasing is still up there and he should be a low 170 bit upper 160's for sure. He was in an area that is somewhat accessible without needing ropes and climbing gear. :chuckle:

Not everyone is into B&C score and the biggest highest scoring rams are not always the best looking, prettiest rams. Very few have it all, Score, looks and the WOW factor.
Find the ram that YOU are happy with and kill him. This is YOUR tag and possibly the ONLY chance that YOU will ever have to hunt sheep again. Make the most of your hunt. If YOU want to come over and scout for a week before the season and kill him on the first day, fine. If YOU want to wait till the other tag holders are tagged out 15 minutes into there once in a lifetime hunt and then have the mountain to yourself for the next couple weeks, that's fine also. Ultimately YOU get to make that decision. Either one that YOU choose is the right one. Are you seeing a pattern here Bob? ;) This is YOUR hunt and no one else. Good luck in your decision and your hunt. I look forward to seeing your success.
