Westport 7-11
« on: July 13, 2015, 06:53:45 AM »
Just another Westport report.
Some epic fishing for us and a few others that made it out to 300' on Saturday. Water was pretty bumpy but the fishing was so fast and furious you couldent get 3 riggers down. Fish were pulling it out of the clip on the way down. Between Stinks, Coho and large Kings we went thru 42 baits in about 4 hours.

When the tide changed the water went to crap and the ride back in was pretty hairy!
That marine forecast was really off at 3' swell at 16 seconds and 1 to 2 feet chop. It was more like 6 to 7 foot at 2 seconds and a 3 foot chop!

Water looks fine in the pics but you notice were sitting down netting and stuff. It was hard to stand up all day.

Biggest fish were 25 and 26 on the scale.

Nice fish! I was out there yesterday for tuna. Both the water and the bite were rough. We caught 1. It laid down nicely for the ride in though.
Fish hard, hunt harder!

Ya after Sat. we did not go out yesterday. Forecast changed from 10 knot winds to 10-20. Sat. was just plain dangerous on the way in. I wasent going to push our luck.

The fish gods rewarded you for toughing it out!  Well done!  Pic #2 gives a pretty good idea of the conditions, with the oncoming swell blocking out the horizon and everyone balancing themselves.  No fun, except the catching part.

We caught 6 coho in 4 hours in 190 feet of water fishing at 25 feet down. We also hooked into a 7 foot blue shark... good times this morning!
Wishing I was fishing...or in Wyoming

I was out there on Monday, bite wasn't too strong, I hooked a wild coho that had to be thrown back, 2 kings but only landed the second one, a 15 lb white king. My first king took the bait at about 75 ft and I was still letting out line, the second one hit at about 175ft on the way back in. I had a blast and cant wait to go out again.
