Full pots
« on: July 16, 2015, 09:06:01 AM »
It's been a good year so far.  6 keepers in this pot - 2 hour soak - kept 5 and threw back one that was missing a claw and 2 legs.  Dumped the 2nd pot and it looked just as good.

I'm not sure what I am doing wrong with my square pot, but it never crabs well.  All my other pots are typically full.

Congrats! I set out 2 pots and let them soak for 3 hours. Buddy and I limited with the first pot and had to throw out a few keepers. Checked second pot and it had even more crab. Threw them back, but I'll be after them tomorrow. We each reached our clam limit in less than 45 minutes. Today was a very successful day at the beach. If only I can be as lucky during hunting season.

My $20 square pots always seem to out produce my $150 stainless round pots.  This one is about rusted out after only 10 – 15 or so seasons.  I keep thinking I should retire it but it keeps producing crabs.

Camano Island has some good spots that are usually open all year.

Funny that always seems to be the case; there is one pot that always out performs the rest.  I have a couple crawdad pots that are the same way, garage sale finds.  We built some fancy pots and the $5 garage salers always out produce.
