Always go bigger!

I would always agree with that, but I have the 1 HP model, and I cannot feed it fast enough.  I cannot imagine what the extra money would go for for the 1.5 HP...

I'm thinking the same. Plus a downside I can think of is the weight. It's gotta be heavier than the 1 hp. Every time I use mine I have to bring it from the garage into the house, and it's about as much weight as I wanna pack!
The 1.5 was significantly larger.

You won't be disappointed. I have the big one and can grind everything. It also stuffs well. You will definitely want to get the foot pedal if it compatible.

Yes, I have the foot pedal and cannot imagine using it without it anymore.

BTW, the foot pedal is compatible with any grinder, or really any electronic component as you plug in the pedal, and plug the device into it and mash the pedal down, there is power to the device.

So we use the 3/4lb cabelas grinder and it has been great for the last 6 years but when you say you don't have to use the plunger what do you mean? I am interested.  Do you mean it eats solid chunks of meat as fast as you can put them in or do you mean it will take ground meat easily for making sausage and twice ground burger.  Our 3/4 will take 1 to 1/2 inch chunks very fast but you have to push ground sausage and burger in with plunger in order to get it into bags or casings.

I just recently bought the Cabela's Commercial-Grade 12'' Meat Slicer in the bargain barn a couple weeks ago.....to cheap to pass up.  Display model as well.

Now looking for a grinder.  May try the new Carnivore one as it's on sale.

Retail prices on the Carnivore are slightly less than the older commercial version.  However, Cabelas says the Carnivore is best grinder they have ever made.  Must be all the stainless steel in the old one thats makes it slightly more in price.

Improvements over the commercial one.  Some nice features like the carrying handle and pull out storage drawer, not to mention the cool gel pack that attaches around the throat.

Carnivore on sale $80 off plus free foot control pedal which is like $50.  No commercial display or return units in the Bargain Barn at the moment, so probably I'll pull the trigger on the newer one since sale ends tomorrow.

Here's a grinder a buddy in Alaska bought used for $250 from a grocery meat department. You can almost throw quarters in this thing. It goes through meat like you wouldn't believe.
