I used to shoot MS and would regularly hit 500 meter Rams offhand, Savage 110S in 308Win, 165gr SGK and a 10x Lyman All-American scope.

When stationed in Taiwan I would shoot 600 meter competition with the ROC army, offhand with a Rem 742 BDL Delux fitted with competition metallic sights and military 308 target ammo. I held my own with their top shooters, never the best but never laughed at.

I can hit chicken eggs at 200 yards sitting off shooting stick pretty regular.

On game I like to stay under 300 yards and the closer the better.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

I shot big foot at just over 1000 yards with my son's nerf crossbow. Those mechanical foam expanding tips failed to function, and I couldn't find a good blood trail. You want to talk about a bugger to track. Much harder than finding a wounded Mountain Dew.

Well, I'm not sure if you know this, but I'm kind of a big deal.

15,800 yards. Three rounds, 5"/38 rapid fire naval cannon. Viet Nam, DMZ, 1972. Short, over, on. Best shot ever.  ;)

None of mine are impressive by most standards, I never have worried about long range unless I was just shooting for the heck of it. Most of the time I cant find anywhere to shoot around here past 300. Then hunting situations... where I hunt on the wetside it tends to be 200 at farthest with an average around 50. That being said.
Longest at a target
Stevens 200 .223 cheap bulk ammo, 250 yards.
Longest at animal.
There is a 4 way tie, the last is the most impressive/pure luck.
All 4 shots were 120 yards.
Browning A-Bolt 30-06 on a fork horn buck, prone over a log.
2 were with my Mossberg 535 Slugger with 4 power scope.
A bedded doe, set up rested on my pack (also was over 100 feet below me I was on a cliff edge, she was at the bottom)
My spike buck this year, offhand
The last, and luckiest.
Mossberg 500 Field model 28" barrel and modified choke. Standard bead sights. Remington rifled slug. A coyote at a sharp angle away from me, offhand. Pure dumb luck (or super ninja skills... your pick  :chuckle: )

Sorry, should have been more specific.  I hit a mud dauber hole at 600 yards.

Or maybe I missed completely - who could say?  :dunno:

I remember one time I hit my bullet hole at a 500 yard target shooting NMC Highpower prone.  Blew the spotter pin thru the target.
