Simple dinner ideas

Grab a package of wraps, some precooked chicken, cheese and veggies. Wraps are a staple for me when I am in a hurry.

Another one I do is a hamburger gravy on boiled potatoes. If you have it available, a quick flash fry some seasoned salmon chunks and throw it on some romaine or Bibb lettuce with red onions, parmesan, croutons and Caesar dressing.
 If you could tell me what kind of material you usually have available in your house, that would give me a better idea what ideas I could give you.

Late dinner, early breakfast. Same thing. This is what I eat when I'm going to hunt all day and possibly cover miles in the cold. I don't get hungry, don't even think about food after eating this.

What you need:

2/3 or 3/4 cup Albers Quick Grits
1/4 large yellow onion
1/4 stick butter
1 or 2 Johnsonville smoky brat or Italian brat
two pickled jalapenos plus a couple of the included spicy carrot slices (La Costena comes to mind)
salt
whatever else you want to throw in (a fried egg, fried spam, cheddar cheese)


What you do:

Slice onion and jalapeno "French" style (long slices), slice the brats banana style.

Cook the grits with appropriate amount of water (instructions on box) along with onion.

When grits thicken and are no longer soupy, add remaining ingredients. Stir. Serve in bowl to retain heat.


Enjoy the "Captain's Breakfast" and know that you've consumed enough calories to kick butt all....day....long.

Burgers are a staple. We change it up by changing cheese (blue cheese, cheddar, pepper jack, Swiss, etc) and other toppings and making sliders (hint: Hawaiian rolls) so you can mix and match. Or steak, tacos, spaghetti, casserole, brats, bbq fish (salmon or bottom fish), sloppy joes, or soup and sandwiches.

I'm interested to see what others do because my wife and I both work and always feel behind the 8 ball when we get home with 3 hungry and tired kids. We have talked about planning better for years but it seems we will continue to fail at that forever.

Can of Spam diced and fried until golden brown edges and a quart of egg beaters, nothing better . Even works in the duck blind one pan and your done.

smoked salmon (if you don't have it try qfc for about $10/lb. i preferred the candied coho their have right now) chips , salsa, guacamole and your fav. beverage. zero cooking but a damn fine and healthy meal.

One package chicken thighs, two cans cream of mushroom soup, put is all in the crock pot. Serve over noodles or spuds or tice

Pack of backstrap dipped in flour then fried in butter. Pack of idahoan mashed potatoes done in 10 minutes start to finish .

bacon, eggs and hashbrowns

This is what I call a super potato. If you have left over baked potatoes or you can boil up some potatoes. Place the potatoes on an individual plate for each person. Put some chopped onions, broccoli, butter, sour cream, chopped ham, bacon, beef, salsa, baked beans, salt, pepper, etc. You get the idea, what ever you desire or laying around in the frig. Then cover with foil and put it in the oven on 375 for around 30 minutes. Take the foil off and put you favorite cheese on top at the end.
