How many "openings", for lack of a better word, are there Vs number of hunters? Still think it's a little unfair...

I heard 'seperate' pool mentioned :dunno:

Just talked to "Dave" again this morning.  He stated that the Dept. has yet to make a decision on how to manage the unsold tags.  There are roughly 3000 unsold tags (roughly $500K revenue for WDFW ) - he expects word soon - perhaps by the end of the week.

Sure wish they'd hurry up and make a decision.  The only reason I can think of for it taking so long is if the leftover sale option they tried last year was a disaster somehow.  I didn't hear any complaints about it but I can't think of any other reason for the delay on this.

Maybe they're debating whether the deer population can handle the pressure of the 3,000 multi-season tags. They already had to eliminate some of the doe seasons in the NE part of the state. Maybe they're willing forego the $420,000 and save some deer for next year.

If I was drawn for multi season deer but did not buy it by July 31 (wife hospitalized then left on a trip so it got pushed aside) can I still go to a retailer to get it or am I in the pool now with all those who did not get drawn.

The process will be made public this week. Leftover tags will be available at dealers on a first come, first served basis.

Which is odd because Colorado pulls off the whole left over tag first come first serve deal without a hitch.

Hopefully they are considering a pre-pay second drawing for unsuccessful applicants only.  That way those who have to work, and can't stand in line all morning on a weekday would have equal opportunity.
