I'm  pretty sure I'd of hit that bear with my bow or a rock even . Remember the scope was off  lol... I still don't know why the hillbillies holding the 44 mag in its face didn't shoot it .

Some of the misses from all of these super hunters are pretty interesting.....

Ahh sir, that may be the crux of the biscuit right their.  Perhaps, just perhaps, the super duper TV sponsored hunters are not so super duper after all  ;)

:yeah: ....alot of the super hunters are pretty impressive individuals...but there are a few I shake my head at

In all reality stuff happens...eventually ....there's a million reason why a miss occurs....usually excitement...tunnel vision...the shakes....adrenaline....steep hills !!

Eventually your going to miss or have a less then ideal shot....when that happens go ahead and ask your self this question again

No way Im saying I am Great.. Hell I have missed a ton in my first two years.  But these people are Pros with the best of the best?  Miss at 30 yds, every single evening one show in a 5 hour period has a miss at this range. i find that strange...  Hence the thread

I hear ya....one that suprises me is Tom Miranda....

Another thing to keep in mind is in 5 hours of hunting tv youl typically see a kill shot ever 30 minutes at the minimum...sometimes 2-3....that's alot if experiences in an one afternoon

Sooooooo...I shouldn't bring a few dozen arrows?  :chuckle:

Seems like a lot of people on the shows aren't that much better  hunters. They just spend a lot time hunting.
more importantly they have the money to buy air time. Having a show ain't cheap.

I heard coach is bringing a film crew for your hunt.! :chuckle:

I have one miss that still baffles me to this day. 10 years ago, my first year bow hunting, I had already killed 4 deer in the first week of the season. Monday afternoon of the second week I had a doe walk into 8yards, I was only 15 feet up a tree, drew back settled and released. Clean miss right over her. She ran to 63 yards and stood quartering away in the woods, drew back and released, perfect in the last rib and out the front offside shoulder, 15 steps and she was done. I have no freaking idea how I missed her at 8 yards. She covered the complete sight plus some. I didn't even need to pick a pin but a complete whiff. *censored* happens I guess.

I think your last few sentences ring true for a lot.  I know I have missed more coyotes inside 50 yards than I have past 300 yards.  Same with turkeys.  I think we get cocky and don't follow through with our shot process.  See hair, punch trigger :chuckle:

Hell, I don't even know if I looked through the peep. I replay that hunt in my head weekly for years and don't remember settling, looking through peep and following through. I didn't need to, she was 8 freaking yards. Everyone deserves a close range miss, it gives you something to ponder for life.

Maybe this?

"Of course, a faster arrow gets to the deer sooner so the deer doesn’t drop as far. This is especially important, in my opinion, on shots from 25 to 35 yards. At this distance, the deer is close enough to hear even a quiet bow, yet it is far enough that it can drop a good distance."

Maybe I'm not as good as everyone else. I missed an elk a couple years ago for no reason other than operator error. Stuff happens.
