Danner Boot Recrafting
« on: September 19, 2016, 03:34:12 PM »
Just received my Danner boots back from them after sending them through their recrafting. This is the third set I've sent them, once again they did a great job.

I never took before and after pics on the other pairs but after seeing threads bashing Danner over the last few years I thought I'd share a positive experience.

You may ask why I had them recrafted rather than just buying a new pair. Well they don't make these anymore, and having them recrafted has resulted in less break in, the leather is already worked and they feel good right from the start.

Anyhow, here are some before and after pics.

If you look close you can see the outsides have come undone. Because the stitching had wore through and the leather was not ripped, they are able to re-stitch them.

Well it was like buying a new pair, $210, but like I said they don't make these anymore and I really liked them. So rather than trying something I may or may not like, I spent the money on what I already have broken in and know I like. ;)

Looks good!  Figured I'd comment since I'm one of the usual danner bashing folks.  ;)

I got a pair that is 8 years old and they started leaking last year might have to send them in.  Already bought a new set of Canadians but it would be nice to not throw them away.

Wish I would have heard of this program earlier. I had a set of full leather Danners I loved but they started leaking pretty bad after 8 months of wearing them..................They sat brand new in the closet for 3 years so they were way out of warrantee. I sent them back to see if they could be fixed and they said they were defective. mailed me back my boots and a 10% coupon good for any of their full price boots on the website...   Looks like they did an amazing job on your boots.

I tried to get my super rainforest recrafthed after seeing some others that had been done. I was told mine were too far gone (after three years of wearing them daily on a construction site) but I got the same ten percent off coupon.

I. Trying to keep a closer eye on them this time, I have seen guys send them in and get a few more years out of them.

A buddy uses the Rainforest boots for construction as well, he is hard on them and has 4 different pairs he rotates because they get wet almost daily, he has had good luck recrafting them before they wer too far gone.

Were they able to  recraft the gore-Tex liner as well?
I have a pair of Vasque that I'm still happy with the soles and leather but would like a new liner.

New liner was put in. Sounds like the only thing they keep from the original boot is the leather.
