How's you find an opening to shoot in the dog hair reprod?

I noticed the rope spool,  how do you use it to haul a critter up?
Keep 'em Straight!!! (and quiet)

Nice Bulls nothing like close ups with an elk.

Drag the rope down and tie off on elk, both have radios and haul it up with the truck....stop the truck when it gets hung up or out of road, then back up and repeat...sometimes a block is necessary

Deerhunter pretty much summed it up!  It's rare we get to use a rope, usually too deep in the timber.  This time I harvested him in a thick reprod/clearcut, steep canyon, about 700 feet from a landing.  It was the only stormy, windy, rainy day we had during season, snuck down right above the herd, called to the bull, he let out a couple weak bugles, then came in silent (like most Rosies for me!).  All alone in a permit area, no family available to help that day.   My nephew's friend heard I needed help, rounded up a couple family members (who all had permits ) came in and roped it out.  Nice to have local hunting buddies!

Lightning,
I certainly know the geology and geography of SW Washington pretty well.  The "2000 Line", and the peak below which I killed this bull, sit smack in the middle of the coastal range "Willapa Hills".  I've hunted the Willapa Hills my entire life, I believe there are 9 GMUs that fall within the Willapa Hills coastal range.  As far as WDFW Game Management Unit, you are certainly correct , killed my bull right in the middle of the Williams Creek Unit, never claimed a harvest in GMU 506.   :)
