To me the app fee and license as a resident is well worth the chance to draw.  :twocents: I pay more in other states knowing I won’t draw for years and years

Odds of drawing a quality elk tag are small and getting smaller.  There's lots of guys with 20+ points in those draws now. Highly suggest those of you who are waiting to cash in your WA points before you go out of state don't wait any longer.  Think of how old you'll be when you finally get that Peaches rut tag, and how many years of hunting quality OTC or draw tags in other states you've missed out on.   Do it while you're young enough to do it the way you want to.
You can still put in for the moon shot in WA if you want, but it's a sucker's bet.

I must be the odd one out here. I enjoy hunting elk in washington and can gurantee i will have multiple interactions with bulls each year. I cant imagine not hunting your own state every year, its sooo cheap not to! With that said i will be hunting elk, deer, and spring bear in idaho as well, all my washington stuff, and deer in montana.  Hopefully draw a montana antelope tag also.

Hunted outa state on and off for last 30 years, hunted WA every year up til about 3 years ago now only hunt WA if I draw something.  General WA season with hoofrot just doesn't excite me when I can goto Idaho, Montana, Colorado or BC.

General season harvest rates haven't changed significantly in the last 12 years.

That def proves it has sucked for a long time!

How is BC as far as cost and ease of getting a tag ?

Canada requires a guide for NR big game hunts. Drives up the cost. Not a DIY hunt.

Non-residents may be accompanied by a qualified "accompany to hunt" individual, who does not need to be a guide.

Right now I'm not planning any out of state elk hunts, and I'm also not sure if I'll be hunting elk in Washington, unless I draw a special permit. If I hunt the general season it might be for only one day, and even that depends on whether I draw other hunts that might interfere. My priority in Washington will be more focused on helping my 12 year old daughter get her first deer, and deer hunting for myself, for mule deer in eastern Washington, which I haven't done for quite some time. No blacktails for me this year. My out of state hunt will be antelope in Wyoming.

Back to MT for elk & deer, maybe WY for antelope (30% chance) and a few shoot for the moon tags.  Maybe bear and late elk in WA.

I'm sure I will still get out and hunt in this state or help some friends out just not holding my breath for much here anymore. I too have a bunch of points to burn at some point when and if I get lucky enough.
